Any point in getting the premium security line pass £5 each and or a lounge pass?
Not flown from Gatwick for ages, there’s only two of us going so not too expensive to make it a bit nicer.
Lounges are nice, security depends on how busy it is. Often no queues at all or similar in posh Vs normal security
Queues were very light at security yesterday morning (peak school holiday time) and the terminal wasn’t too busy either, despite quite a few delays to flights.
Not sure about the security line thing as it generally tends to be ok but Gatwick South Terminal departure hall on a normal day is a hell-hole. On a bank holiday weekend its probably doubly so:
£5 to (hopefully) avoid the 10000 people trying to get a reassuringly/staggeringly expensive Costa/Cafe Nero/Pret/Wetherspoons etc bespoke order coffee and croissant then having to go to another long queue in Boots to replace all of the toiletries that had to put in a bin before security, then queue up again to get a load of food for the flight that is ever so slightly less expensive and depressing than the airline will make you pay through the nose for while playing a 2 hour long game of hurry up and wait for the easyJet flight to anywhere else, sounds like a bargain.
Or perhaps you'll just be in a slightly smaller crowd of very annoying people...
I’m getting anxiety already. Thanks!
Tbf, easyJet fly out of Gatwick north, I think it's only ba and a couple of other pricey airline flying out of south so it's not as bad.
Top tip, straight after security follow the signs left to the lounge even if you're not going to one and you can skip the wiggly-corridor-through-duty-free-hell that plagues airports
Don’t be one of the people who turns up with their toiletries in a giant freezer bag which can’t be sealed / more than 100ml “because I can’t think in that modern stuff” / leaves their laptop in the bag / assumes that they can pack their favourite machete to use as a butter knife on the flight / forgets about the full water bottle in their bag etc etc.
My impression is that Gatwick has tended to pay enough for security that progress has been swift, with any problems being down to idiot passengers. No real view on lounges there.
Gatwick security is one of the most efficient anywhere in the world and I fly alot. I wouldn't bother with fast security pass.
Gatwick can be a bit busy and the lounges are OK but I wouldn't bother unless you have a long wait.
I wouldn't buy a security pass. I would buy a lounge pass if I thought I could drink the price of booze back...so make sure to arrive early
I use the BA lounge so can’t comment on the pay to enter ones, but I wouldn’t pay to get in one. Wetherspoons (as much as it pains me to say, I’d never set foot in one outside an airport) is far cheaper and more efficient if you use the app.
If you are flying EasyJet, pick a seat that includes speedy boarding if you have cabin baggage.
FYI Got bag checked in (wizz air) and through security in under 20 mins.
Currently in Spoons enjoying a perfect Guinness (£6) ordered on the App. Very slick
Burger and pizza just arrived.
Nice! Always good to start off the holiday smoothly
Have you posted a photo of your departures pint on Instagram and Friendface? If not then I think you'll find that you don't actually exist

I manage to cram my stuff into a ruckky that will fit under the seat, and always wait until the queue goes before going through the gate , then dawdle out to plane so we are last on. ( lad has autism ).
That way most of the melee is over and people are sat in their seats
