I know it's only just July, but got a reminder from Boots about booking a flu jab and was just surprised it's wasn't a flu / covid combined thing as I sort of assumed that would be the norm from now on.
What is the latest status on seasonal Covid jabs?
I assumed there would be another booster pre-winter, but only aimed at the elderly (me) and at-risk.
I'm pretty sure that Covid is going to be high risk patients only from now on.
There's nothing planned (that I've heard) for non-elderly but I'd happily pay a few quid for a covid jab like I have been doing for flu for a few years.
To clarify, I assume you have previously booked a flu jab privately via boots and they are sending you a reminder?
my assumption is that the nhs would contact all those with medical issues from around September onwards, and if you are on that list you’ll get a covid jab as we’ll. like last year it’ll only be offered to populations deemed at risk
does seem odd that there doesn’t appear to be any plans to offer the covid jab privately. Perhaps bill gates thinks the 5g network is strong enough already.

Yep, but I had sort of assumed that once the panic was over, they'd just roll Covid and Flu into one as they have the same target audience eg free for over 50s and medically vulnerable etc.
Seems quite odd thinking about it if I'm honest, seems like a lifetime ago now...
I would expect the free flu jab to be rolled back to over 60/65 (whatever it was previously), it only went to 50 because of the extra threat of covid.
Got my answer yesterday:
I (53yo) got an email last week with a date for flu and COVID jab in early September with NHS. I was quite surprised! Angus, Scotland.
Ah, ok, mine maybe be flu only. On re-reading the email it is unclear....
'You may be eligible for both the flu and the COVID-19 vaccines, or only the flu vaccine.'
My 65th birthday is towards the end of November. I guess I'll miss the Covid call-up by a few weeks.
scotland here and mid 50s - got an NHS flu only invite last week. Surprised no covid but I think that's for 65 plus

I got email/text at the weekend there for an early sept appointment (52 -Ayrshire) then a few days later my GF got an appointment for the same day/place/time.
it doesn’t explicitly say it’s a covid and/or flujab - just ‘winter vaccination’ (the ideas of being immunised against ‘winter’ has its appeal mind)
when it was announced the covid jabs were being cut for under 60-somethings it was announced north of the border they’d continue for over 50s in Scotland but that position only seemed to hold for a few hours.
Got the flu jab offer today.59 Dumfries and Galloway.
Yeah, really annoying. I'm 43 and have had Long COVID for 3 years.
I got COVID again this year and it absolutely flattened me for about 12 weeks. I'd really like to avoid that happening again if possible.
I'd be very very happy to pay £20 or whatever for a COVID jab if I was allowed to!
As an aside, it's interesting seeing the covid support being rowed back as someone now classed as immunosuppressed apparently.
I got an email months back saying that they would send me a covid test and if I ever text positive and report it, I'll be contacted back by the NHS to get me onto an antiviral drug asap.
That's been dropped now. Got another email recently... Now of I test positive I have to try contacting my doctor, 111, or my "specialist".
I bet you that if the need arises all 3 of the above will not know a thing about this responsibility that has been placed upon them.😁 The trouble is that you need the antiviral asap in order to gain any benefit from it.
I'm not filled with confidence I'll get the antiviral in any where near the timescale to be helpful.
Looks like we will be able to buy Covid Jabs - not cheap though!

Thanks for the reminder - booked my private flu jab.

"They are unlikely to be available in time for an autumn booster campaign but could become available next year."
This really is the cross fingers and hope winter for the NHS, isn't it.
We have just had email from Immuno Deficiency UK confirming that we will get Covid jab for mrs_oab and anyone in the household.
Flu we normally get a text from doctors in October time to pop into Stirling for the pop-up flu jab clinic in the Albert Halls.

This Government seem to have just decided to let it collapse slowly....
I thought they had scrapped both flu and Covid jabs for under 65s. Only over 65s and at risk groups get either this year. Ie if you are under 65 and on the list for flu jab you’ll most likely also be eligible for a covid booster?
I think for most folks the annual covid booster will be a dose of the disease tbh. Seems impossible to avoid it nowadays.
My FIL is a government source and he told me last night that soon to be announced COVID jabs will be chargeable to all but over 65 and most vunerable.
Welcome to private healthcare…
I guess that's the same as flu jabs have been for years though. Part of me thinks "that's fine - if it's not necessary for public health, then the government shouldn't fund it, but why should they block someone from paying the self if they want to?" The other part of me thinks "yeah but this way, well off people will be more able to choose to be vaccinated than poorer people, this increasing the already-too-big health differential between rich and poor".
I think the latter is a concern, but if the vaccine was cheap (maybe subsidised) like the flu vaccine, i.e. ~£15 then it'd be fine, but the Guardian was suggesting that it's likely to be more like £100, which is not ideal.
