You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
My dad's having numerous issues with Flight Sim 2020. Generally it's almost daily MASSIVE updates, like 50GB+, with a roughly 50/50 chance that the download borks his whole installation and he has to start from scratch. He's using XBOX Game Pass for PC.
Any ideas why it might be happening? Is it happening for lots of folk? Would purchasing the whole game rather than using XBOX subscription change anything?
From what i understand it's a work in progress game, check this out

He can’t be having daily updates as they are only issued monthly.
But the monthly updates tend to be fairly large.
It is a work in progress with many issues.
If he wants a stable sim maybe move to xplane and add some decent scenery, depends what he wants to achieve.
Over the weekend I’ve installed xplane, created custom UK scenery using bing maps, and installed the Toliss A321.
This setup stable and you will find many addons for xplane.
All the msfs updates and main forum are on the link below and the last update was on the 7th Jan.

I was excited about MSFS2020 until it was released.
Given that my simulator has surpassed the cost of my bikes, the £120 software cost wasn’t a massive pill to swallow - but I was busy with work at release so I didn’t get to download it for the first week or two and I’m so glad of that.
There have been numerous bugs with scenery and weather that in fairness you could excuse, but when the aeroplanes don’t fly in a flight simulator I think you can safely say it’s f*cked!
My updates have ceased for the moment and they are huge when they happen. As others have said it's far from a settled system as yet.
Ah ok. Cheers. I'll tell him to crack on with FSX for the time being, maybe revisit in another 6 months.
If he's just doing visual flights its mainly OK, its more the the systems and autopilot that's causing issues.
Using XBOX for PC here, and don't recognize your description of issues. Think I had a 10GB update a few days ago? I do notice bugs sometimes, but not problems like you describe.
So my experience might be evidence the problem isn't related specifically to XBOX for PC.
My dad is the kind of person who could manage a "Blue Screen Of Death" on a calculator so I'm fairly certain it's something he's doing. I'll go round and visit once we're allowed and hopefully I'll get him sorted.
Thanks all.
