Our flat porch roof was leaking - basically at the end of it's life so I asked for a few quotes and went to a local company for work.
Looks like an ok job but i've noticed that water pools away from the drainage hole. I suspect that this was happening previously but as the previous roof was covered with gravel, it was hard to spot.
I've emailed them and asked them to come back to have a look (and to replace some fascia trim).
I note from the original quote, it states to "supply and fix 3 layer torch on felt roofing system (all laid to existing falls and cross falls)".
Does that mean that they have no obligation to adjust the fall to ensure water drains properly or am I covered by building regs?
They haven't come back to me yet but i'd like to know where I stand before I speak to them properly.
Personally I don't think they have any legal obligations as the quote stated it would be laid to existing falls. The quote therefore did not include any re-framing work. However, if it's particularly bad I would have expected a decent contractor to point this out and quote to carry out the additional work.
It's not necessarily something to worry about though as a lot of flat roofs tend to pool a bit before the surface water finds the outlet.
Unfortunately your quote is for a straight replacement of the existing material so the falls would not be adjusted, the water is probably pooling where it always has but you could not see it before.
