So im in the process of rehab on a small tear on my mcl no surgery just physio. One issue i have is the rotation to get out if a pair on clipless pedals is just not enjoyable, plus i think i would rather exit via stage left than be stuck.
This leads me onto flat pedals. I actually enjoy riding on flats but just cant get on with my current pair(dmr vaults) i feel like im riding on them rather than in them. Dont know if its the size or shape or what? Have been nicking my other halfs dmr v12 and they feel a million times better.
Short answer is before i just buy a pair anyone have details on other popular pedals, burgteg look good but are the same size as the vaults, horizons look good and remind me of old shimano dx of my youth. Cranck brothers stamp but never seen any in the flesh
Honestly, if the DMR V12’s feel that much better, then get a pair of those, otherwise you’ll be diving down a rabbit hole and possibly spending more money and getting no better results. If you search around you might find some cheap secondhand ones.
Theres some on sale here: edit, nukeproofs, that is

Came on here to recommend the Nukeproofs, grippiest and comfiest pedals I've ever used and only £20 to boot
I really like these, much better than the V8 they replaced:
I changed to flats for very similar reasons.
I started on Vaults because they were "the best". I found them OK aside from the bushings creeping out of the body and they go rattly.
Then I tried a set of HT PA03A plastic jobs and they are just as good performance wise and not had to touch them. They also cost about £35.
Nukeproof. I think it's the Electron ones I have on all my bikes. Used to use DMRs, then Crank Bros, now Nukeproof. As said ^^ up there ^^ comfiest, grippiest and smoothest pedals I've ever had.
Have you tried removing some of the centre pins in your vaults? the V12 has a decent concave which is likely giving your that 'in' feeling. Having a fiddle with pin layout can change how the pedal feels quite a bit.
