Interested to hear the views of anyone here on STW who’s done the mountain biking trip with Fjord Adventures in Norway. The idea of a backcountry trip supported by a boat really appeals to me but want to know what the riding is like too.

Not been but it looks good. Make sure you're suitably attired and equipped

Some of those gents wouldn’t look out of place in the more hipster neighbourhoods of Sheffield.

This trip you mean? Seems a lot of money for 1 was biking. Beautiful yes, an experience no doubt but VFM I’m not so sure..

As an aside they don’t seem a good company, I’m considering them for s Patagonia trip but I’m a little bit off put by the long flight & it’s environmental impact:

Well, I live in the area. You can expect to bike and hike up the mountains, and enjoy fun but tech and steep singletrack. If you are looking for a great outdoors experience it's definitely worth it.
The boat is a pretty neat and special set-up for transport and accomodation. But you can easily reach the same trails by car. For skiing the boat opens up much more possibilities though.
Another possibility for riding around the fjords is to stay with Will and Clara at Any excuse to ride, they offer great guiding and cozy accomodation. Also logistics are pretty smooth with easy transfers from Bergen airport. Also, check out Ben Cathros vid from his trip there last year.

Oops typo - just noticed:

H & I are a good company. AFAIK. I meant to say they seem “don’t seem a bad company”

My bad!

Cheers @Olaa, @mrlebowski, it was a thought for my 50th (a few years off yet). Wanted memorable experience plus some quality singletrack. Will have a look at the other suggestions too though and the vid as well.

It looks awesome but £3.5k is a bit on the rich side given you have to do much of the leg work yourself.

Chuffing hell. Maybe I should have looked at the prices first! Unless I get some kind of windfall in the next few years this will have to stay on the wish list...

The H&I stuff looks great but certainly at the premium end of pricing.

There are a few guiding companies around the different fjords, but few that offer complete packages. One way to do it is to do a roadtrip and book guides in the different places. That could end up being pretty epic stuff!

Tuboflard - I'm not sure if i'm allowed to do this but it is I, Will (scuse the username), as mentioned earlier in the thread. We're pretty new in this land of mtb holidays but I think we can probably offer what you're looking for... Big mountains, fjords reaching out into the distance, sweet singletrack, little wooden houses and i'm sure we can sort out a boat for you to the start of a trail at least one day! Oh and we don't charge anywhere near the prices of the other places 😉

Here's Cathro's vid to give you an idea of what it is all about, enjoy 🙂

p.e. olaa - who are you in real life? Have we met?

Cheers Will I’ll watch with interest and drop you a line. Off for a week kite surfing so don’t be surprised if it takes me a couple of weeks....
