I'm looking for a solution to a small problem I have.
I need to get two pieces of metal together and a toggle bolt would be the perfect solution, except I'm looking for something that is reusable and dropping the toggle is not a solution.
I've looked at these , but I guess they are reusable because the anchor bites into the inner surface.

Can anyone offer a solution or places to look?

Ironmongery direct and hafele are good for fixings. Not quite sure what you need.

Edit. Or do you mean something like a temporary rivet like a cleco?

Something like this might work if it can be extracted as a whole.

The key is being able to remove the fixing without leaving any debris on the inside cavity.

These work quite well.
Not sure about in thin metal though.

Not sure what you're trying to do, could you not just tap the back piece?

No tapping as it's thin aluminium, think like ducting where I can't leave anything in the duct but need to attach something to the outside that isn't a permanent fixture.
I'm pretty sure there's nothing, I can have a look at the suitability of those hollow anchors.

Thanks all.

The cleco will do that. http://www.skinpins.co.uk/fastclecotemp.html

spire clips? depending on how far away from the edge of the ducting you need to be

How heavy is what you're trying to attach and does it need to be re-attached once detached?

Thanks nickjb, I don't think they will.
I'll have to wait until I can get into Screwfix or whoever. I haven't got a way of putting up drawings to illustrate exactly what I'm trying to do and I'm not doing so well explaining it. 🙂
Cheers for your help but there's more important things to worry about on a Saturday night.

Avdel nutserts www.avdel-global.com . The site shows a fixing tool, but you can use a bolt and washer to crude effect

The more I look, the more I think the hollow wall anchor is the type of thing I need.
Thank you very much.

You can get rubber hollow wall anchors which are re-useable / removable - have used them in the past.
