Got given a pressure washer that'd been used a couple of times and then left stood for years. On cleaning it up I discovered a dead rat in it !!
I removed the deceased rodent and a load of crap from it and tried t get it going. I checked the fuse. Ok. Wiring seemed ok and uneaten by rat. The fan on top of the pump could be turned by hand. The electric pressure switch was clean and seemed to be fine. The switch operates a plunger for the water outlet and this took a bit of freeing up. I slung it all back together and hooked up water and leccy supplies to it. I switched it on and... Nothing. I've never used a pressure washer before so I might be missing something obvious.
Any suggestions or advice?

Unplug all the wires contacts and try cleaning them up. Bypass the switch to rule that out.

Might be another fuse inside it, on a control circuit possibly?

Will try by passing switch. Not seen any other fuses after extensive delve into the innards.
Cheers.

Your plunger works the opposite way round, water pushes it out towards the switch which then stops the motor.
You should be able to remove the plunger assembly and clean and lube the piston.

Is it water tight... No serious leaks when the hose is connected and turned on? They often break when water in the unit freezes.

Also, pull the trigger on the lance and let the water purge the air out.

I have a defunct one. Think it's the pressure cutoff switch. Opened it up, reassembled it, it worked for a while then stopped again.
