I've got a pair of Linn Index speakers that are sitting on a pair
of home made concrete stands with spikes. The stands do the job nicely but they are a bit ugly really so I'd like to fix the speakers to the wall but only if the sound isn't affected. The speakers are designed to sit 6cm away from the wall. Only problem is that the walls are plasterboard that are spit and spotted to the block behind. Is there a good way of fitting them?
No.
Damn and blast!
While you're here Mr Woppit and knowing you had some doings with the Cardiacs band in the past, do you know anything of Mr Smith? Is he ok?
Will the ABC be revived?
best way is to take the baffles out of the cabinets, knock some baffle sized holes through the walls where you want to mount them through into the next room, and then mount them flush into the walls.
that way you will have an infinite baffle and no reinforcement from the wall boundaries to worry about.
Otherwise bu using wall brackets or putting them on shelves you will get some bass reinforcement, which may or may not be ok.
If you sit with the sofa against the opposite wall and your heads about the same distance from that wall as the speakers from their wall then it will likely sound absolutely awful will loads of similair bass reinforcement from both walls.
Thanks TurnerGuy, I'm fitting them to an external wall.
If I knocked through the wall where my speakers are, I doubt my neighbours would approve.
Of course I could just get these: Bejeeeezers!
