Thought I'd ask advice here. I have a utility room I'm looking to fit a 3m bit of worktop in. Thing is there'll be no units underneath, just a washer, dryer etc.
What's the best way of fitting it to the walls? I was thinking of fitting some batons to the wall and getting some L type steel brackets to screw into both. The baton is about 90mm x 20mm - will that suffice? Walls are stud and a bit of external.
I do have one upright that'll fit between the washer and freezer that can go underneath.
Worktop feels blooming heavy though, its just bog standard cheap as I could find vinyl type.
Any ideas much appreciated before walls start crashing down around my ears!
Battens and brackets are good but you'll need support along the front edge.
Either a base panel or silver poles/breakfast bar legs, or just some timer if it's in a garage?
You think three base panels evenly spaced between the washer/dryer etc would be enough?
We've got exactly the set up your describing, except closer to 2m length. Batons on wall all way round and a single "leg" inbetween the washer and dryer, far enough back that you can't really see it. No brackets. It's been fine for 2 1/2 years of fairly heavy use so far.
Yep battons round back and side. Stick something else in the middle to support it and you're good to go. Set up a worktop in the shed like that as a cheap workbench.
Great, thanks for the confirmation, I'll plough on!
