Any recommendations for fitted wardrobe parts or kits? I'm thinking things like doors and complete drawers etc.

For hardware, there isn't much that Hafele don't do. A lot of their stuff is sold by other people which can be good for the casual user as you need an account for them.

There are various companies that will make drawer boxes etc, the drawer box company being one. They also make cabinet doors.

Depends what you want though. The drawer box company tend to do solid machine dovetail drawers so fairly expensive.

I'm using some at the moment though and the quality is excellent.

What is it specifically you're after?

I get everything from HPP.

The drawer systems and metal hardware they use is from Blum, which is very similar to Hafele in quality and range.

The doors and drawers are all made to measure. I order the vinyl covered MDF ones. Dozens of styles and colours.

For the carcasses I use MFC. They provide cut and edged 18mm board in a variety of widths (all 2800mm length) and they will also provide whole sheet cut to your precise width and edged with your choice of edging. Thousands of decors to choose from. Usually Egger and Kronospan.

You need an account to order from HPP and get the best prices. But I'd be happy to look over your design, spec the materials and get it all odered and delivered to site.

Here's one I made earlier.

Mind you, I've also had success with adapting Ikea wardrobes to fit awkward spaces. And even B&Q ones!

Thanks for the replies

What is it specifically you’re after?

IKEA Pax has served us well over the years, but it's not what it used to be in terms of quality. Also in our bedroom we have an odd shaped space above the stair box to make better use of. There is a "fitted" wardrobe there, but it's just doors across the space and put in when the house was built. IKEA Platsa might work as it can be built up with different carcasses to within 10cm of the ceiling (230cm high). But I think they might be even lesser quality than Pax.

I wondered if anyone made MDF drawers and door ready to fit to your own carcasses.. or also made carcasses that are amenable to alteration.

I imagine the market for what I have in mind is quite small so perhaps it doesn’t exist

If the company above is a no go, I would maybe just approach some small fitted furniture companies and ask them to give you a quote for supply only of the parts you need.

I'd have done that for you no problem when I was working for myself and had a workshop.

You might find it's cheaper.

That's sort of what I was offering.

We put Pax wardrobes in the kids bedrooms and they work well. At the time of buying them I also bought an extra Pax carcass, intending to use it in our room. This is in the garage, currently unused and taking up space. I'm thinking of returning it to IKEA and using something different in our bedroom. There being viable other options will mean I can just get rid of the carcass. I'm only hanging onto it as Pax carcasses have apparently now changed

Are sliding door kits worth considering?
