Has anyone got any experience of using these and if so what have you gone for and are any of the cheap / low end one any good for basic information and reminders?

They are a short lived incentive to get off your arse and do a little exercise if you are a bit of a couch potato. I gave one as a gift 🙂 They soon get forgotten in my experience.

I should give a little more info. I'm talking about a basic fit-bit that is a glorified pedometer. When combined with the iPhone app and My Fitness Pal it gives some feedback on how active you have been, calories consumed against burned etc. I do think it helped as an incentive but only for a few months.

I have been using a fit bit flex for about 10 months.

Linked with MyFitnessPal it has helped me lose weight. I still use it and find it interesting but only after I linked with MFP. Before that I used it for a month then got bored and left it off. But with it varying the amount of calories available I found it more motivational.

I've got a Garmin Vivosmart - the movement tracking thing is interesting, but I mostly use it as a bombproofish smar****ch.

Ive just ordered the Garmin 1000 pack with a free Viviosomething that links to the HRM.
That way I have it for the bike and also have it for running or general fitness workouts.

I have no way of tracking my workout otherwise and this will link with MFP, Garmin Connect and the Health App on iPhone.

I am (For once) getting some proper structured coaching and training to improve fitness and lose Lard, and I figured this was the best way of tracking the Cardio side of things.
