I know there are a few kayakers on the forum, so thought I'd ask if anyone has any experience of fishing kayaks...
After a lovely afternoon lure fishing for pike around moored boats in the lakes yesterday, I've been daydreaming about those sit-on kayaks... There are some very reasonably priced ones (about £250) on the ebay, are they any good? Anyone tried one?
I have a OK Prowler that I just used for pottering around but which has seen no use since I bought a packraft. It has rod holders, bait /catch area and can be fitted out with a sonar/fishfinder and rudder.
If you want to pick it up from Aviemore it's yours for £300 🙂
I'll even throw in a paddle
Thanks Scotroutes, they look nice - what are they like to fish from? If anyone has any experience catching pike from them, I'd be interested to hear... I can imagine it would be a lot of fun, although I unhook most smaller pike in the water, so probably wouldn't be too much drama...
I'm down in Lancashire, so picking up from Aviemore would be tricky! 🙂
Went fishing/paddling in Finland with a mate on 2 of these. Can't remember the makes, but I'll dig them out. Really stable, loads of room, great to be able to have room for kit, tackle, camera, beers, sandwiches.
I can't comment on the landing experience as we didn't catch anything.
I was pretty much instructed not to: he was looking forward to home made pizza that evening and he said he'd be pretty unhappy if he had to gut and scale fish!
Prowlers are great, you cannot go wrong with one.
