You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
A couple of days ago this nugget of helpful information appeared on a motorcycle forum I frequent, posted by someone in Arizona:
The last few days I have been taking a long sleeve shirt to work with me and today I needed it. I got off early and it was 108 F out. (42 C) I have a body armor and mesh jacket so what I do is after putting on my boots and pants I soak my shirt and leave it slightly dripping. I then put it and my armor on. Put on the helmet and gloves and go. Even at 108 F it makes for a slight chill for the first few miles. I had kind of forgotten how weird it feels to put on a wet shirt and I forgot my extra water bottle for when I dried out. I will not forget tomorrow. My sleeves and most of my front were dry by mile 10 but I only had to go 15 to get home. For extreme heat I highly recommend a wet shirt.
I'm sure it must be hell out there but can't we just have a taste of it in Britain this year. Just to be sure?
Am quite fond of high temperatures but 42 is pushing it
Quite enjoy high 20s low 30s in the Canaries
Have been to Dubai it was 38 and not uncomfortable - not dissimilar to the BILs house in winter tbh
Also New Dehli low 40s & crippling humidity and Turkey a couple of years ago low 40s that was eyeball burning hot
I spent some time in Turkey where we saw 38 - 42 all week and it was bliss when sitting around a cold pool with chilled drinks on tap.
Horrendous when I had to don jeans and a T Shirt ready for the journey home though.
I had a wet shirt on my commute this morning.
Not the first of the year though. Not even the first this week.
