You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Afternoon
my new computer has just arrived and I will be setting It up for the first time in the next couple of days. As this is the first computer I have ever owned I could do with some advice on which free anti virus/malware protection is worth getting. So avg, avast or other? Spybot or other?
cheers
If it's Windows 8 then you don't need anything. It's all built in.
My advice if it's a laptop is to uninstall anything that looks superfluous. So for example, stuff like 'Media Sharing and Discovery' if you aren't planning to share videos around your home, or 'Wireless Network Assistant' - the useless crap is generally identifiable by the originator being Dell or Sony or whoever, rahter than Microsoft.
To find out what's installed, go to control panel then 'programs and features' or whatever it's called in W8. Post the list up here and we can advise you.
Or don't bother. It'll be fine as it is - just that sometimes it can be quicker still if you delete the dross.
Its a win 8 one but as its from dell outlet it hasnt any extra stuff apart from the os.... that said havnt turned ut on yet!!!
Switch it on, connect to the network, then enter Windows Update (either Google it or look in the control panel). Update everything it tells you to.
