So I've got a slight groin and calf strain niggle,  been doing quite alot of running lately, do I need to take it easy for a bit, over Christmas,  not a problem,  or can I keep running? Any advice is muchos appreciated 🙏 🙂

Welcome to the forum. Do you have a bike? Use that instead, much more fun than running.

Brace yourself.

Is that general advice for the strain?

Hello op, I have a broken penis. Now that's out of the way, we are friends.

In general, trying to power though an injury usually just prolongs the injury or makes it worse.

Just my tuppence anyway.

‘Been doing quite a lot of running recently’

Have you been increasing your mileage? If you up it by more than 10% a week it’s a good recipe for getting injured.

Groin and calf is two quite separate places. I’d rest up rather than cause a knee to tweak in an effort to counteract the imbalance the existing injuries cause.

And yes, here I am. The editor of a mtb magazine, answering #runchat questions. I only started mountain biking because I was an injured runner!

Could apply equally for JN.1, groinal, or life in general I think.

At least you've got the hang of the Singletrack forum by not asking a bike related question. I sometimes wonder whether people on here actually ride bikes.

Welcome to the plethora of what tyre threads and car threads. 👍

Chess is just the gateway drug. Just never go into the political threads, there be dragons!

I was under the impression that problem had been solved by a mechanical system of gears and pulleys.

A bit like mechano, but for cocks.

You're already Binners' favourite forumite.

So I’ve got a slight groin and calf strain niggle

Have you considered a skills course?

Mechani-Dong, for lovers of Japanese Kaiju.

Same here. But I don't want to work out how long ago that was.

If it hurts even a little while doing sport, stop doing it. Walk back the shortest way.

I had a slight niggle which I ignored so I could finish my planned day route, two days later I couldn't walk 50m and it took me half a year to get back up to where I was before.

Are you doing plenty of stretching? That should help...if you have twinges then you'd probably help by easing off - to a slow walking pace - not stopping, and then do plenty of stretches afterwards.

Saying that, I'm not trained in this so don't have any sound advice, that is just what I'd be doing.

Welcome to the party...many many positives, but a few negatives - like any social circle really...
