Just had a wood burner fitted and wanted to put a layer of fireproof protection underneath a wooden lintel that runs across the front.
The stove fitters suggested HardieBacker Board and then spray it black but it's got a pattern and writing "engraved" into it which I'm sure you'll be able to see.
Has anybody got any suggestions of anything else I could use that's just flat and could screw up underneath it and then spray paint???
Hardie Backer paints up fine - used it to line our fireplace. It has a slightly coarser texture than finish plaster.
The images on google of that embossed stuff aren't accurate. I bought in store from B&Q- it's flat faced and printed the same as plasterboard.
With all respect shouldn't that have been done for the hetas sign off?
There are various cement boards available. Supalux would do. Cant remember which I used in the end but it was plain.
Oggles ... cheers for that ... I'll go grab some then 🙂
wrightyson ... I think they were happy with the distance it's going to be from the actual stove and is partially me being a bit over cautious ... it's not actually fitted yet as the whole fireplace was rebuilt and the blockwork at the top has had to dry out before plasterboard going on this Wednesday when the lintel will be fixed in place as well.
Fair enough. Just mentioned it as I didn't want someone else having dodgy work done. Just nip down your local buildbase etc, they'll have something in stock.
