Have the latest version of Firefox on Windows Vista, Avast Antivirus.

A few weeks ago Firefox changed its homepage to Ask Jeeves search, not bothered about that though I was surprised, but earlier today I found another browser window open on some game called Empire Molehills. Closed it but now the homepage has reset to the game as well.

So, what free checks should I do? Used to get this problem all the time with IE but first time for the four years I've been using Firefox.

Google chrome is what you want (some forum habits are hard to resist) or you can unistall and reinstall firefox and avoid hungurian porn sites.

Thanks will give Spybot a go.

Tried Chrome when it was first released and wasn't that impressed, it had some issues with STW and various other sites so never really used it regularly. Is it better now?

If S&D doesn't cure, give SuperAntiSpyware a go

Re-install Firefox then add noscript to stop most web nasties.

[Chrome] Is it better now?

I'm using it now...no problems on Singletrack but a very few sites still have problems (Centre Parcs and Ocado sites had issues when I last tried)..I've had less problems with it than IE and Firefox. It feels faster to me but hard to measure...if there is an issue I just start IE or Firefox for that odd site. Main issue is (oddly) no google toolbar which I like.

Using Chrome now, it's a revelation. My Firefox has become so glacially slow, opening up Task Manager reveals it's using a staggering 295mb!

Thanks for the recommendation.
