These are on offer and I have a voucher.
I have a smart TV but it isn't voice enabled.
I have an old surround sound unit that doesn't have HDMI control and is also obviously not voice enabled (although it is currently on a smart plug)
We always lose remotes.
1) Does the Fire TV cube take the place of a traditional 'universal' remote, so I could turn my TV on and off, adjust volume on it or the surround sound etc?
2) If yes, does it need to have a transmitter wired in to point at the devices in question or does it just fill the room with the IR signal? Neither device is in a drawer.
3) Do you have to have it learn your remote control signals or do you have to enter a code for your own TV like you used to do with universal remotes?
4) Presumably the Cube takes over all the smart TV functions like Netflix, YouTube, iPlayer and of course Prime. Does it also do Disney Plus?
Dunno, but is this any use to you?

My fire stick remote or via voice adjusts TV (well actually soundbar) volume and turns tv on & off, doesn't have the full functionality of the TV remote, eg menus for picture etc
This cheat sheet gives you an idea of what it can do via voice, but TBH I still use the remotes as I can never remember the more advanced commands 🙄

It comes with an IR extender, but if just on open shelves you prob won't need it. It's pretty simple to set up, no learning of remotes, it steps you through the equipment setup, although my setup is pretty simple, just a soundbar connected to the TV.
