Anyone know what they have been filming? One of the roadies said it was something to do with spaceships, but he may have said that so we stopped asking questions! Looked like they were packing up so presumably the bridleways will be back to normal access pretty soon.
It’s the latest instalment of Jurassic Park. Looks like they will be doing it until mid-late June.
Many of the bridleways and footpaths are closed off by fences and in some cases substantial security guards. The road along the top was open today, although on other days it has been closed because blocked by lorries.
Are they allowed to block bridlepaths?
It’s either dinosaurs or spaceships depending who you talk to but someone ‘in the trade’ informed me - Star Wars.
Certainly a big operation, not just the set at Winterfold but down in Cranleigh at show grounds all the trailers and catering tents.
Can they block bridleways? With what they will be paying McAllister for using his land I reckon he won’t GAF.
Can they block bridleways? - Yes they have official temporary closure notices posted by each one issued by the council.
Star Wars? Well they have lots of pot plants to make it look like the jungle, fallen trees in Jelly’s Hollow, and had a smashed up bus with a tree through the middle - so I am going with Dinos rather than aliens.
I was told, by a very nice man working there it is a netflix show. He also said I was nice coz I listened to him and didnt get the arse 😀. Cut the ride a bit short though.
Was going to ride Surrey Hills this coming week. Is it still worth it or is a lot closed? Only been twice and follow a route on my Wahoo so would be pretty stuck if a big section is closed.
Anyone found details of what/where is closed?
Could be a Star Wars thing. They were shooting "Andor" in the north west the other week.
For those wondering what is closed - not a lot that effects a ride. Not sure any trails as such are blocked, you can ride around most of it.
Stay on Pitch and you won’t even see it.
Just don’t try parking at any of the Winterfold car parks
Thanks dozofoz, just what I wanted to know 👍
Not sure any trails as such are blocked
When they were first filming Harry Potter at Swinley they just blocked the fire roads - I rode one of the less popular trails from Surrey hill and popped out by a security guard inside the "fenced off" area. He let me out and I'm sure I wasn't the only one as the fences got a bit more substantial after that.
A local walker told me it was for a Netflix series called Citadel.
