If you haven't seen it, and you're a bit of a film buff, it's genius. Utterly utterly brilliant.
Saw it on release at the cinema. Sublime but polarising. I love it
I wasn't quite sure what to make of it. It was interesting trying to tell who was an actor and who was just picked up off the street. I found it too bleak and lacking in a human touch although that is the point. I thought the book was better.
It's not on Netflix. Is it on any of the catch up services?
It's actually quite a bit less gruesome than the book. Plus Scarlet Johannson gets her kit off.
It's both creepy and tender. A true original of cinema. The music is excellent too.
awesome film
good interview with johansson here
wish that more films would dare to be as different as under the skin
also it has an odd guy wearing fluoro in a scottish pine forest, kinda relevant to us
Loved it too.
Totally hypnotic.
Great film, and interesting story about how it was made too.
I liked it too. Also recommend Beyond the Black Rainbow (which I probably liked slightly more).
Seenit
oooh will have to check that out

I downloaded it from iTunes.
Sublime but polarising is precisely how my (film buff) friend described it to me and sums it up excellently. He also suggested I read the book as a follow up.
It reminded me in many ways of Kubrick's 2001.
It was on Film 4 not so long ago - don't know if you can still get it there

Yeah! Both phenomenal films. If you liked these you might also like Upstream Color, which is what Shane Carruth did after Primer, but it has a more experimental narrative than Under The Skin or Black Rainbow.
I loved Under the skin.
Have not seen any of the others mentioned so will check those out.
Any other recommendations in this vein?
Definitely one to watch on a big screen with the lights off, stoned.
Loved it although the people I'd watched it with were just bemused! Haven't read the book and I wish I had done before hand.
It did make me swear to myself I'd never stay in that bothy . . . But that was where we ended up on the shindig last year . . . And we survived 🙂
It's on Amazon Prime as far as I know. On the list to watch!
One of those films you watch in disbelief assuming it'll get better, then it ends. Utter crap
I loved it but the book is quite different in many ways. Much gorier too.
I really liked it, refreshing to see a film with natural conversations rather than scripted perfection.
