just seeing that antichrist (lars von trier) is on film 4 this evening got me starting this thread.
i have a major reaction (not in a good way) to any film made by either lars von trier and m night shyamalan.
i seriously would rather stick red hot needles in my eyes than ever sit through any (i mean ANY) film they have done or ever will do 😡

I struggle with JJ Abrams sometimes, despite the colossal nerd-fest his films leave me cold and underwhelmed, plus he needs to deal with the lens-flare obsession.
+3 for Bay.
Most other directors tend have their fair share of good and bad, but Bay consistently churns out utterly offensive and awful 4 hour long bore fests.
Uwe Boll and to a slightly lesser extent Paul WS Anderson for their countless utterly shit efforts at making films from video games.

Wes Anderson, Bernardo Bertolucci, Micael Bay, Paul Verhoeven and Quentin Tarantino although Tarantino is on the list because he just seems like a dick rather than for the quality of his work which I quite like.
Not watched a Guy Ritchie film because he's on the assumed crap list.

And that's the Director's fault? He directs films with big themes, because he can carry them off. Those films, by their very nature, are going to get hype, because they are very expensive to make, and they need to make a profit.
Seems to me that's a daft reason to dislike a director, instead of an obvious one, like he makes shitty or offensive films.
Like music, I wouldn't discount anyone wholesale til I'd given them a chance (unless it was Robbie Williams).
Even how much I hated the latest Transformers, I still liked the first one.
Wouldn't spend my time with the Lord of the Rings films, but King Kong was ok.
