I'm looking to invest in a new amp

must be
'Fender' Clean
less than 15 watts
all tube
FX loop
12" speaker

Considering
Evil Robot - a bit loud

Bugger, Bike forum again!!!
Bogner New York - very expensivo
Fender Blues Deluxe - but too much wattage
Fender super champ XD/X2 - no FX loop

An experience with the about or others to look at?

Thanks

Plum

Tried a blues Jnr and Blues Jnr Pro on Saturday. Not great amps in my humble opinion

How about a Boogie Lone Star Special - it's 30W, but you can run it at 5W open ended. Two channels, the best tube/spring reverb in the world ever, amazing clean tones and a second similar or more gritty channel if you fancy.

Fender blues deluxe. Swap out the 6l6 power valves out for a pair of 6v6s and re bias. Gives you an 18w blues deluxe.

you want a deluxe reverb really, or a princeton reverb. But they don't have fx loops (and the princeton is a 10" speaker)

but you don;t need FX, cos you will have fender reverb and vibrato

I think blues juniors are fine personally for the money (as good as a blues deluxe just quieter) - I've just got a 2nd hand one on ebay. I might look at modding it at some point though

I borrowed a blues Junior a few years ago, I thought it sounded OK, but it burst into flames :-(. I watched the repair guy fix it, and the standard of construction on the outside is a lot better than the inside. It was really built down to a price.

I ended up with a Cornell Romany, no FX loop, but sounds good and has a useful power scaling function. The EQ bypass gives it a very different voice, which is useful when recording.

I've too have been after something with an FX loop....the Fender Supersonic 22 looks good, but i've not tried it, and I never hear it sound really good on youtube demo's. The most interesting amp I tried of that ilk was a Bogner Duende...it was really nice, quite expensive, but a bit different to the run of the mill. The example I played was a bit tatty (it looked like it had been in the shop for ages), otherwise I'd have gone for it.

If your anywhere near the East Midlands, you'd be welcome to check out the Cornell.

I've got a random desire for one of these:

However, I can see a new Fender Excelsior in my future first.

The lonestar looks really nice, do you play a Special or a Classic Chipps?

I tried a Marshall 1w JTM in GAK the other day, took all my will power to walk away. 10" speaker, but god it sounded good. The Casino Elitist they gave me to try probably helped.

Guitars are a bit like bikes aren't they. n+1 definitely applies & you nearly always regret what you've sold.

I've got the Special. I think the Classic is 100w/50w/10w whereas the Special is 30W/15W/5W
Footswitchable channels and a solo boost too. Series (valve powered) FX loop plus lovely, lovely valve reverb. S/H they go for a little over a grand.

N+1 indeed 🙂

I want this to go with my jtm1..... See above 🙂

Then I can use clean/dirty/wet/dry via a 2 amp set up

Not asking for much I know

Might have to try the vibro champ xd

Thanks for all your carefully considered replies though

Money no object on this project

If you're not using your amps for distortion, then why not run your effects straight into the front end and ignore needing an effects loop? Run two JTM1 amps then!
