Any experience of:

Alpkit Viso 2 or 3 (£130-150)
Vango Scafell 200 or 300 (£100)
Access Kit Refuge 2,3 or 400 (Halo rip-off) (£130-155)

I'm spending others money on a good few tents and want to do so wisely.

Personal tent would be the Alpkit, the Halo / AccessKit Refuge is just too heavy (love 'em canoeing) and the Scafell looks like a simple, light and you know what it is tent...

wife has been using various vangos including the scaffell for many years.

The one issue we had with a zip breaking just out of warrenty was sorted out by Vango quick and free.

They have impressed me enough with how they stand up to rough treatment from the kids that i would buy with my own money next time.

No experiance with the alpkit though but the company has at least got a decent ethos now they have moved on from trying to be the cheapest as they started out - and the quality was questionable.

Wont use Wild country again...... for the opposite reason.

Wont use Wild country again……

Ah yes, I remember the '90s well. The decade of the Pole Tax. Every year or so having to shell out another 136 quid for another set of crappy Quasar poles as the last lot had split. Again.

Shockng kit.
Abject customer service.

I too have very positive views of Vango - durable, just work, very few 'duff' designs, heavyish.

I too also don't like the build and customer service of Wild Country.

For DofE I'm tempted by the Halo copies in 4 version and some of the Scafell in 2 and 3.
