So there one was, pimping ones BMX (blue anodised bits, blue walled tyres and respray on the forks and bars). After putting it back together I took it for a spin, but I didn't have the rear wheel in properly so it made a bit of a racket and dropped the chain.
Presently an urchin in a beany hat pops his head up from behind an Audi TT (his mum's one assumes) on the driveway opposite.
"I know what the problem is mister. Do you want me to take a look at it? I've been working on bikes all my life". I politely declined the offer and sorted it myself with a deft whirl of the spanners.
The impudent young get. Did he not know who I was?

I feel your pain , a few years back we were doing a group ride on Exmoor riding a stiff climb towards Dunkery . Young gun was being reeled in and overtaken by quite a few , as they passed he said it's because I'm on my DH bike . As I passed him I said in response pah I'm 30 years older than you , without hesitation he replied well you've had 30 years more practice then ! I had to grudgingly accept I'd been owned ! Cheeky little shit 🙂

Right now there is a thread on BMXTrackWorld asking if anyones had a pimped blue BMX stolen as one was spotted under some old bloke who obviously didn't belong on it and couldn't even attach the rear wheel. No way could it have been that old scally's bike 😀
