I bought a pair of shoes from FB. Advertised as sz 6 uk. When they came they were size 6.5 uk on the label - way too big for my kid. Buyer says she is normally size 6 and they fit her fine so refuses refund and return. Crazy logic. My mistake for being trusting and paying by friends and family so they avoid the pp fee.
Note to self. I'm a Muppet - don't trust people again.
Pathetic rant over.
Hell grow into them soon enough won’t he?
1/2 a size is an extra pair of socks for 3 months - look on the bright side and think of it as 3 months extra wear.
Are women’s sizes different to junior men’s sizes? Could she be actually telling the truth?
Unfortunately not. My daughters feet stopped growing a year ago so - no growing into them. The seller was a female and they are women's shoes. They are way to long for her - and as she is Olympic lifting - they need to fit right - not slide forward. She knows she is a Adidas 6uk.
I've offered to cover the postage both ways but now they are just airing me. And they were not cheap. Yes I could try and resell them but its not the point. Trusting and being let down is such a sh*t. Faith in humanity and all that.
UK shoes sizes are based on barleycorns (genuinely) which are 1/3 of an inch, so a half size = 1/6 of an inch = 4mm
So a 6.5 instead of a 6 can't be way too big. Wear thicker socks until they grow a bit more.
[edit - saw your message]
if they won't grow any more, try an insole, or heel grips? But 4 and a bit mm doesn't turn a fit into way too big.
also from my experience Adidas do size up small, I wear an 11 Adidas vs 10's in most other shoes.
What did the advert say about returns? If you still can't find a fit, just resell them. What are they?
FB marketplace is definitely buyer beware / sold as seen. Chalk it up as a lesson learned.
Thanks for offering solutions but 6.5 uk is too big no matter what we try. Shes a 5.5 UK but tried on a fellow lifters 6 uk womens at the gym and they were good fit if not a touch too big. Same Adidas model as the one we bought. I don't generally buy shoes online but did in this case.
I would love to make the 6.5 uk fit as it would make my life easier but they look like clown shoes on her. And you don't want clown shoes when your learning to snatch, clean & jerk. Mistakes are unforgiving.
She went's half's with my on them as well as she really wanted a good pair.

I don't really expect this to be a scam though. The shoes and condition was as described. They just go the size wrong on the ad.
The thing I don't understand is when I sent her the photo of the size tag showing 6.5 uk - she insisted that were a 6 uk because she normally takes a 6 uk and they fit her fine. Now that to me is insane logic - especially if she doesn't see the flaw in it.
Its like me telling my wife I have a 10" willy - despite what the measuring tape says.
did you not see pics of shoe size prior?
how did you pay PP? not as described?

No pic - the ad said 6 uk - and I'm a Muppet

Paypal Family - I was trying to save here the PP fee. I'm a Muppet.
Email me your bank details and I will see if I can sort you out a refund.
PM me you PIN / Password so no one can do anything wrong with the details.

and how much was this fee?
I can see both sides - I've got a 3XL Castelli jersey which unless you're in the know sounds massive, if I was selling I'd make the point it's labelled 3XL but sizes up as a L at best compared to brands not designed for tiny Italians with matchstick arms. If someone bought it from me and then said they were a 48" chest and it doesn't fit I'd be miffed.
Sounds like she didn't make this clear though, just went with her interpretation.
Either way - if it was me I'd take it back if they paid return postage for it anyway. But I wouldn't do PP Gift to a stranger no matter what.
How much are you down by?
She did send the item, its obviously not a deliberate con. Unfortunately poor descriptions is part of buying used items. It works both ways, sometimes you get a bargain when an item is undersold. I'd still rather trust people in general, its nice. So far I've not had any significant issues using PP gift. Had one minor issue, on here funnily enough, but it was more down to a communication error. Sell the shoes, with a photo of the label, and move on.
Put them back on FB and get some money back towards a pair you can try on in a shop.
paypal 'Friends and Family and complete stranger' :0)
clearly the seller knows adidas are small hence stating they are a 6 rather than 6.5, that is damn annoying. sounds like you bought from an idiot..
If she'd been genuine she should have offered a return
at least its not a car. ford fiesta rather than a jag
I lusted after a pair of the blue Adidas weight lifting shoes back in the mid eighties, they were a quality item, wooden heel I think. Guy in my lifting club brought me a pair back from Germany when he was competing over there for GB. The shoes were cool, but my 55kgs put into a leotard were not so!
My PB @ 15 @ 55kg, 75c&j & 55s.
I enjoyed the training but hated the pressure of competing.
My coach Ron's quote was always "don't rest on your laurels".

Jebus wept, just pay the extra 4%. Even on something expensive like a bike or frame it's worth it for the peace of mind and leverage it gives you over morons/lying shitsacks if/when it goes to shit.

That's one way. I've tended to trust people (and do a bit of research if its on a public forum, ask a few questions). Only small amounts of money, but over the years probably saved a couple of hundred quid. More than enough for several sales to wrong and still be ahead, and they haven't gone wrong.
If you have their address go round and knock on their door.
Bombers?
If the 6.5 is "way too big", the 6 isn't going to fit. You wanted some trainers with a really precise fit, which is important for your daughter to be able to lift weights safely... and you bought some off Facebook marketplace rather than going to a shop where she could try some on? I'm not sure trusting someone is the silly bit here.
To put it slightly more charitably, there was always a bit of risk involved in this, but you wanted to save a bit of money, which is fair enough. Didn't work out this time. Some you win, some you lose.

Tough crowd , he said his daughter tried on an adidas size six and they were suitable, he then bought some which were advertised as a six but clearly were mis-described by the vendor, not sure how he can be blamed for that.
Wee in the shoes and send them back?
Of course its about money - everything is. 3 weeks in with one class missed. Paying £100+ for a new pair of shoes is a bit rich. Who knows how long she will stick to it for? She's a teen - she has many other interests.
Lifting shoes instore? I don't live within 100 miles of one. Do you?
I would very much expect anyone on here to do the right thing - and they would. I would. End of day its left me a bit less trusting of people.
Really pity too as females are very much the minority the lifting class and my daughter was super happy she was able to get recycle/reuse equipment from a fellow female lifter. I haven't told her the full story ... especially as she wanted to chipped in for half.
All this after spending a week in North Wales where everyone I met felt like the nicest most genuine people around.
Welcome back to reality.
