Lavender oil in a bubble bath with a good book. Or tea tree oil if scratched to hell by brambles.

Marmite on toast is a good shout.  I’d add:

- New socks!

- Freshly made bed with cool pillows

- Beans on toast

- Boiled egg with brown bread

- Sitting outside with a great view in silence but next to someone you love

- An unexpected hug from the kids - more special as they get older...

Falling asleep on the couch, waking up at 8 o'clock panicking that you are late for work, realising it's 8pm and not 8am. Win.

1. 8+ pints

2. farting in the bath/shower - ideally after 1.

Your mum.

And, bad jokes.

And, poor punctuation.

Clean socks

A run in the warm summer rain, ideally in a forest.

A couple of pints in a proper pub with good friends.

A commute without clipping out.

The release of a long held in pee, eg, when you've been wondering how the hell you were going to get home without an incident after too long in the pub and getting stuck on the bus.  Bliss...

That feeling in your legs when you lie on the bed after a long day in the saddle.

The sound of the dawn chorus when you know it’s finally time for sleep 😉

Fish spotting in the river. First of all it’s like there’s nothing there then blam! They all come into focus.

Coffee in the garden on a Sunday morning with church bells nearby.

Cold, fresh pillows.

Aching like a bastard the day after a good bike ride/gym sesh

Plentiful hot water.  When growing up we always seemed to have poor hot water flow or not much at all.  Love what a pressurised cylinder provides.

A 48 hour period in which the whole family is away, it’s just me in the house, and I can ride for 3 hours before coming home to eat chicken drumsticks in front of GCN until nighttime, when I can then switch over to bingeing on The Bridge or Seven Seconds or some such show.

In winter...

Lovely, hot power-shower after a really hard, cold, wet ride. Dress in warm comfy clothing including my favourite socks and a toasty hoody.  Then a well earnt cold beer in a proper pub, in front if a roaring log fire.

Sailing by the lee in a Laser dinghy (one for the sailors)

Watching my kids enjoying time outdoors doing walks and rides that kids twice their age would moan and complain about.

Just about anything bought from a bakery in France or Germany.

Riding my bike or walking in proper hills

Tea, a nice steaming cup of strong tea with a dash of milk or black earl grey.

Edit I forgot ginger nut biscuits, with the aforementioned tea.

@matt I think the correct term is...

It's a fine line between pleasure and swimming

I learned the skill quite late on in the time I spent in the class. Back on double handers for a while teaching Mrs g-d and the kids, although eldest has gone mad for Toppers.

Hearing Mrs Ready laugh after 28 years of being together (in the good way!)

Long solo rides in a forest, stopping for a few minutes and completely absorbing the peace, quiet and smells.

And summer bike rides, nice views, pub stops with Mrs Ready.

A cup of coffee whilst sat in my armchair after having got in from work after an early shift. It felt good to have the rest of the day free whilst "everyone else" was at work (yeah, I know I had to get up at daft o'clock but I'll let that pass). Sometimes I'd treat myself to a little nap afterwards.*

Having the free time for a run/road ride/mountain bike ride.**

Going to watch the birds on the big pool at the back of the house.***

*Don't have an armchair anymore.

**Don't have the free time anymore.

***Don't live there anymore.

Carving up a B road in the MR2.

The first whiff of some really fine dope being lit.

Lying naked on the bed feeling the cool breeze playing on my skin.

Paddling out.

The crackle of the needle between tracks.

Smelling roses.
