I bought a bench online that arrived useable but cosmetically faulty. The supplier sent another and I'd reboxed the old one and addressed it for return as instructed, but the carrier refused to take it. So I've got two benches.
How long till I can erect the faulty one and use it at the other end of the garden?
Shall I build it and tell them they can take it whole if they come next week?

My Mrs stayed in to receive the replacement and give the old one back. They failed to take it. Not inclined to do the chasing for them.

Some friends of ours bought a new dining room table. It was faulty. There was a crack in one of the side supports. A new one was duly delivered and the courier also refused to take the old one. They rang the company who said that they could keep both, it wasn't worth their while to pick up and dispose of an unsaleable item.
Fault table had a reinforcer fitted out of site behind the cracked wood and the table was given to a relative who got good use out of it.

Wasn't even unboxed as damage was visible from the top box flap. Delivery man called his depot to ask if he should take it away so packaging wasn't the issue, lack of instruction to pick it up was.
Might go for the whole furniture set next time and see if that works.

To be on the safe side. Email them saying that they have 7 days to pick up the faulty item otherwise you will [s]put it in your garden[/s] dispose of it. I they come get it, nothing lost. If they don't, bonus. All above board too.

I'm really angry now because B&Q have said there was no mistake and that I ordered two. They charged me for one. Now i'll have to hire a skip or a bonfire or something or use ebay to get rid of it. 8)

Report the delivery company for fly tipping. Tell B&Q you'll charge them for storage until they remove it.
Well I may have paraphrased what he said. I don't think the SO is as firm as me.

Two arrived, so the customer phoned me up to tell me, I phoned the supplier asap to inform them.

6 months later, police come over with all his stuff that was found in a property that had been raided (it was etched with his postcode etc).
he ran the insurance com[any who said they'd arrange a courier. 9 months later having heard nothing he put the whole lot on ebay and bought a high end bike he never uses. I'd say it is the companies responsibility to collect their goods, however, from their point of view the cost of collecting an unsaleable item might be great enough to just "dump it". However, if they admit this to you, everyone will start damaging goods delivered and getting 2 for the price of one, so they just ignore you and hope you take the innitative!
