I have been doing the 5:2 fasting diet for most of this year with great results. I currently Fast on Monday and Wednesday and do fast for me club runs on Tuesday and Thursday. I find the ride on Tuesday ok but can really struggle with the Thursday ride and I suspect that it is that I haven’t recovered well on the Wednesday (which is a fast day).
I eat pretty well after the Tuesday night ride always drink half a pint of milk as soon as I get back with some source of sugar and eat a slightly smaller dinner with a good portion of protein along with a few carbs.
Wednesdays diet consists of;
Breakfast – porridge made up with water and a few raisins
Lunch – Sticks of raw veg.
Dinner – Prawn stir fry, dahl with half a pitta bread, chicken and steamed veg.
Probably over the 600 calories but has still seen me loose almost 2 stone this year
It might well be that I am just pushing myself to my limit on Tuesday which tends to be the faster of the 2 rides and its beyond my natural recovery to have recovered by Thursday.
I do a lot of stretching before and after a ride plus around 30 20 mins on every none ride day.
Any advice greatly received.
