What a load of crap they have on there. Why would anyone buy this?

82K mileage on that Unimog? Chances are it's ex-military and been around the clock a few times and serviced by someone whose mechanical skills extended to a hammer and a pair of Stilsons.

Why would anyone buy this?

Any number of reasons - many of which might not be 'use as a boat' - its the sort of thing I'd use as a film prop. Had to find and buy a commercial airliner once - the one I found was a bit of a non runner having missed the runway slightly -  but had no plans to fly it.

Chances are it’s ex-military

Judging by the paint job and futon I'd wager it saw action at The Battle of the Beanfield

Current bid is £90.

The hull appears to be plywood (easy to dispose of if you've not scruples, bit of diesel and a book of matches).

Trailer is probably 200kg, keel may be lead, more likely steel, probably another 300-500kg at a guess? So that's about £100 and your costs are covered.

Any instruments, engines, plumbing, fittings, winches etc are all profit.

TBH as a trailer chassis it's worth £90. Stick a new indespension axle on it and weld a flat bed and you've got a car transporter, days work and an easy £800-£1000 on ebay, at least half of which would be profit.

Some interesting stuff on there that is cheap at the moment. Might be intersting to watch near the end of auction.

£280 at the moment - sold at direction of police. Does this mean it is just recovering costs from scroat they have locked up? Will there be a dead body in the boot? Will they be bags of drugs under the bonnet they are unable to open.

Will try to remember to go look at the price in 4 days time

I love salvage auctions. I've never bought anything off them mind but it's so nice to browse.
