Been using a Samsung Galaxy S9 since September and it's a great phone. However the battery life leaves alot to be desired if I dont run it on medium power saving mode.
Been a Android user since the beginning but mainly HTC and Sony.
I have had the iPad Mini 2, iPad Air 2 and Now have the Ipad Air 3.
Thinking of giving the iPhone Xr a whirl or the S10e.
Any thoughts?
I have an iphone 7 128GB for sale v soon if you were showing interest in this option? 👍😊
I recently moved form Android to my first ever iPhone. Went for the XS Max.
It works really well. Moving over from Android was easier than expected, about 80% of apps moved across using the Android to Apple App. It certainly wasn't enough of a faff to put me off doing it again. Camera is exceptional, screen massive, face recognition is bomb proof. Battery is fantastic, Facetime is great and connectivity with a household full of Apple products works really well. I've not got it below 50% battery even after hammering it for a day. It is faultless.
However, nearly everything I do on a phone is app based and in that respect I realise it doesn't make much of a difference what phone it is on. My phone cost over £1k. I don't think it is worth £500 more than a decent android.

Don't be silly, it's from Apple.

They're both battery champs.
Tomsguide did a comparative review, I'm sure there are plenty more out there
Apple are also offering money off if you trade in an old iPhone, for instance the 6s gets you a £150 off.
Could I live with screen on the xr. I dont run my S9 at full 1440p but it looks vivid enough at 1080p. That's my only concern.

You'll miss the OLED goodness, love those blacks but in terms of defintion the XR is fine, in fact it's a really good screen but I totally get what you mean, I'dve prolly bought one if it was 1080p even though in the real world you wouldn't ever notice the difference. Stupid. Besides fewer pixels = better battery.
Re the screen, I've just moved from a Nokia 8 with apparently 1440x2560 to an iPhone 6S with lower res (same as the XR?)
initially with them sitting next to each other it was a bit underwhelming and you could tell the difference but after a day of using it I don't think I've given it a second thought.
To throw another one into the mix. The iPhone X is £749 from John Lewis.
Just not sure how long this S9 will stay quick for.
My Mum has a 6s and it's still plodding on perfectly.
My iPad Air 2 has lasted 5 years with no slow down. Just fancied the new one.

Slight thread hijack as was going to start a v similar one....
Wife needs a new phone - her 5c is on its last legs. All she cares about is LinkedIn, Facebook, a bit of emails and photos. Oh, and making actual phone calls. It's all about the photos. She is actually a really good photographer naturally but not prepared to carry about an actual camera despite having been on courses and genuinely caring about composition etc. I drag about a DSLR and 3 meaty sized lenses, a bag or filters and a tripod - her, just a phone and I'm not going to persuade her otherwise. Best camera is the one you have on you and all that.
Most I think we'd want to spend it Iphone XR money and that would be begrudging to keep operating system to what she is used to (this might be a deal break as she is not good at handling change in tech). But the Huawei mate pro 20 can be had for £530 so over £100 cheaper than the cheapest an XR can be bought for. It has a reputation for a brilliant camera(s) and the ultra wide and longer zoom appeals. Anyone with any experience in comparing?
Pocophone F1 has the same camera sensor as the pixel 3.
