Looking for a couple of long weekends over the summer break.
I want to get out on the bike before the wife and kids are up and then do cool stuff with them during the day.
Where has some good stuff to ride and then entertain a 2 & 5 year old.
Happily drive 3-4 hours from South West London
Have a tent or go self catering.

What time do you 2 and 5 year old get up on holiday? Not sure what time you'd have to get up to do that.
Maybe take some lights and try riding last thing instead?

Llanberis might be an option.

Lots of good road and mountain cycling plus castles, lake etc. for the kids

Well, there's North Wales. It gets a lot if undeserved running down but Barmouth offers a beach, various family things to do up & down the coast...& a couple of excellent trail centres less than 30 mins away.

Haldon_Forest? There's a campsite nearby, lots in the area to keep everyone happy and it's an easy drive from London

I'm taking my family on a long weekend to Grasmere so planning on a few walks and lake cruise and lots of icecream with a few nice pub meals with real ale thrown in.

There's beaches and steam trains to occupy the kids
