Barn farm in Birchover is ok; guess it depends where in Peak you want to be, and what you are wanting to do whilst there?

Despite being local I have stayed at the hayfield campsite. I’ve also dealt with them in a work capacity.... I wouldn’t sent my worst enemy there. unbelievably awful people.....

what do you want to be near??

Theres a great site near chelmortan (Buxton way) but it’s near nothing!!! Hope is good, edale busy...

Some mates of mine from the midlands regularly use their camper-van at the Hayfield site and love it there. They've never mentioned the 'unbelievably awful people'. I stayed there myself with a mate and his kids when they were up this way a few years back and it seemed fine, though I guess the management may have changed. I'd have said it was a pretty decent campsite with easy access to hills, pubs etc. What was awful about the people?

The one in the middle of Edale - Coopers - is okay in a big, basic, slightly characterless sort of way, but the views of the surrounding hills and access to them kind of makes up for that on a good day. Not much else in Edale bar sheep and a couple of pubs, and two cafes including the site's own one.

Neither of the above are much cop if you want a French-style experience with swimming pool, play area, mini-golf etc, but then I'm not sure much else in the Peak District is.

As above, Barn Farm in Birchover is good.

The Lathkill Dale campsite is nice.

Look on  http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/county.asp?region=Central   for more ideas
