Plenty of decent offroad cycling around the Purbecks e.g. Swanage and Studland

The The Inside Park near Blandford Forum in North Dorset. NIce campsite with its own XC circuit and loads of other good local riding. Okeford Hill Bike Park couple of miles up the road, North Dorset Trailway starts in Blandford which is great for family cycling with pub stops and a restored station with cafe etc on route.

I've camped in Tom's Field a couple of times recently - lovely campsite. Some good bridleways for riding nearby, plus you can pedal to The Square & Compass for a few ales. The bus is also a really good way of getting around, I've found. I recently walked the coast path to Studland (via Old Harry Rocks, which was cool), then grabbed a spot of lunch before hopping on the bus right back to the campsite (easy change at Swanage).

Burnbake Campsite also looks lovely for kids (and allows fires) but we haven't stayed there (there's no pub nearby...!).

Not living far from the Inside Park and supported mates who do the Inside Park XC series I'd second that.

The Trailway is great also. I'd suggest driving up to the Sturminster Newton end then riding to Shillingston Station for a coffee / cake stop then back.

If you're in Dorset there are some great cyclepath options in Weymouth (one small / only bit of 2012 Olympic legacy).

I also have a few other nice short rides involving cafes and parks that my 7 year old enjoys with me! I can email you the Strava routes!

I've also had a work colleague stay at Wareham Forest Tourist park. Good for the Sika Trail in Wareham Forest.
