I'm driving off the ferry at Santander with Family mid august - Help

The boss/wife has just informed me that we are booked.

I've invested in a Thule Chariot this year for our 17 month old lad, so I can pull it behind my bike. The Girls 15 & 10 can ride well, as can the wife.

So I'm looking for some bike fun.

The heat is my first concern and finding a suitable routes.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your free travel agent service.

We spent 3 weeks off that Ferry a good few years back. It wasn't that hot. Much more like Britain than than the med

Routes I'm struggling with but the coast and Picos are great

I think you can take bikes on the little slow narrow gauge coast train which may add to your options. We certainly found alot of quite roads

That's a great start. I'll have a look at (google) maps.

Deffo get yourselves to the Picos, short journey from the ferry, both MTB & quiet road routes,I think we were based around Potes, plenty of campsites etc.Get yourselves up the cable car at Fuente D'e (sp)

Mid-August it shouldn't be that hot.

I'd be looking at wikiloc.com for routes, it's usually pretty reliable.

And +2 for visiting Picos. Although be warned they're proper mountains, not hills!

Have a look at the via verdes. Old train tracks converted to bike lanes...

http://www.viasverdes.com/en/itineraries/principal.asp

Picos is nice but proper hilly.

Most of the coastal towns have bike lanes next to the beaches.

Oh and funny forget to look out for whales and dolphins from the ferry. We saw booming loads
