Why include the close range anti-aircraft firing squad bit at the end?
Erm, cos that's how they killed him? And a rights group spotted it in satellite photos at the time but didn't know exactly what was happening.
Shame we can't have a political 'purge'

An anti-aircraft gun would be a ridiculously oversized calibre to use for a firing squad, so the only reason you would use it is for effect and put the fear into your remaining officials. It is mentioned in the article because it is being suggested that Kim Jong-un is feeling insecure in his position and is resorting to this type of gruesome theatrics to dissuade any possible insurrection.
One shell would blow you to pieces. I remember years ago seeing something on TV about the execution of drug smugglers in Indonesia. They were placed in front of a paper screen, behind which was a very big gun on a stand, aimed where the heart would be. It horrified me so much I've never forgotten it.
With Michael Gove in charge of justice this'll soon be the penalty here for crossing against the lights

I remember something similar but I think these days they use a 12-man firing squad where, I think, only 3 have live rounds in their rifles.
You'd think that once you'd supposedly had your uncle eaten alive by feral dogs, something as "nice" as an anti-aircraft gun would be diminishing the fear factor
In a long meeting right now so I may find out soon what the penalty for falling asleep is. Hoping it's less drastic than an AA gun
"Look Kim, I know I said I was expecting some flak for nodding off but really."

Bangkok Hilton TV series, iirc.
They've also mortared and flamethrowered ministers to death in the last few years. Or for non politicians there is the old standards of starvation and disease.
Flamethrowers would be grim. Are they even allowed in the Geneva convention now?
Mortars, ACAC or even being blown by guns would at least be quick. I guess the deterrent value is for religions where there is a need for there to be a body for the relatives to bury / pass on to the 'next' life.
LOL at WWASWAS though.

Dictators are exempt 😉
I wonder if there have been attempts on his life? I guess it's only a matter of time before someone takes a pop at him.
Would make for a good movie 😉
I wonder what happened to the guy that arranged those fluffy toys into a compromising position...
On the bright side, sales of pro-plus have soared in NK.
