Is there something that works off WiFi or a sim that a person could alert me with on my mobile?
My m.i.l is having a lot of falls and has a system set up but all they do is phone me anyway.
Also my sister in-law has a husband with Alzheimer's who is starting to display aggressive behaviour. If she had a watch that she could press a button to get me to come help would be useful.
Any thoughts?

The new Apple Watch has a fall detection system, and I think it has an alert function too.

Edit: typo.

it was a while ago but my mum had a phone/big button thing (think it was a battery powered mobile handset that worked thru a traditional landline phone)that when the button was pressed it called a predetermined phone number, and she carried that about with her

Sort of like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Geemarc-AMPLIDECT295-PRO-Amplified-Telephone-Answering-White/dp/B0742FPSMV/ref=pd_lpo_1?pd_rd_i=B0742FPSMV&psc=1,

There was a thread on this earlier, but I can't find it.

I have tried a couple of watch based products - both are fairly discrete as opposed to the necklace type alarms. The ones I trired were:

SureSafeGo Plus (confusing the similarly named SureSafeGo is not a watch but a necklace). This has lasted well (with one replacement under warranty) and works well with the fall detector, plus GPS tracking, battery health etc available by sending a text to the watch. Once someone has fallen it also acts as a phone so you can hear what is going on in the background.

Buddi - we sent back three of these within the first 12 months as they kept failing to charge after a while. Apart from that they worked well.

We considered an Apple watch or similar - my dad was a big Apple fan - but the fact that it can do so much and is therefore quite complicated was an issue with his dementia.

I think the necklaces are more robust (a larger form factor for a start) but my dad wouldn't weasr one, but would wear a watch. Also note that Alexa/GoogleHome can be set up with a voice command to call a person in an emergency.

One final point - neither of the above products have a call centre - all calls etc come through to your phone number(s). If you wanted a monitored service these exist, but are obviously more expensive
