Anyone here know Ian, the big Aberdeen loon who had a wee fall and needed lifted by the big yellow taxi from the Annat trail in Torridon?
I heard from Torridon MRT that he had pelvic fractures, so would like to pass on my regards and wish him a speedy recovery.

No. As it happens I know a chap that stopped to chat to him by the side of the trail - presumably after his fall -- but he'd seemed "OK' and didn't at that point seem to be in need of medical attention, or I'm sure John would have sorted that out..

Ian had fallen off the side of the trail while climbing back onto his bike to re-start following a rest on a section of the main descent, maybe 2km out from Annat. I'd returned back up the trail after meeting Neil at the Torridon Inn and hearing what proved to be his accurate description of Ian's injuries, which sounded serious. Torridon MRT had received the report of the incident but reported a likely operational delay before turning out, so a heli evac then became essential. Just as well, as hauling a stretcher out from there would have been very difficult and potentially really quite risky for Ian. It was a breezy night too by the time 137 arrived, so we were treated to an impressive piece of flying during the winch operation, around 3 hours after Ian's fall. Just happy to help.
