I'm not on Facebook, but I'm being told I need to set up a Facebook page. I currently spend £300 a month on google ads so I'd be very keen to bring in customers from elsewhere, as well as increase my website visibilty.

Any must do's and must don'ts I need to think about?

Many thanks.

A main thing to think about is you have to work at having a page on any of the social medias. With a traditional website it sits there and websearches or advertising brings visitors to it.

Google is in its death throws in its current form though as more an more of the information people would look for is living in ring fenced sites like Facebook, Reddit and so on so its not unwise to look at alternatives to the old fashioned notion of having a website of your own.

On Facebook say - firstly someone needs to be following you to see you at all, and even if they are, unless you post something pretty much every week you're not going to be visible to them. People only see what someone has posted in the last few days, the more things and people they follow the less they are going to see anything thats not posting regularly. But if what you're posting is boring or repetitive then they'll cut that from their feed

Think of it a bit like your businesses presence being a thread on here. Without you, or someone, adding to it frequently it would fall off the page and nobody would see it.

As a minimum you could have a page and it would appear in searches on Facebook and you'd also have a means of contact through messenger. Depending on what your product is you could be offering it on marketplace too and all that is free but Facebook will starting wanting money from you if you want posts to continue to reach followers

So what kind of business is it? Is there something new and interesting to say about it every few days?

Thanks maccruiskeen, its ear wax removal. I have online appointment booking, so clicking through from facebook would be ideal. I could post videos of the procedure, px willing, or if I do family or friends but otherwise its not massively interesting. I work in a GP health centre, and its all private work but i see anyone who works here for free. Theres some interest in watching the procedure on youtube etc and as I use a video otoscope live whilst I'm doing it I could post some footage. Pretty dull really.

You'll need x2 accounts - the business page, then a personal Facebook page that is administrator and manages the business page! Can't recall which way round you have to do it, think it's personal first.

I use a made-up 'personal' page to do the managing if you don't want to create a truly personal one.

Pretty dull really.

"Dr Pimple Popper's" Entry of IMDB suggests 94 episodes each at 45 minutes long all with international syndication. So theres probably more interest in videos of gunk and orifices than you'd perhaps think. Forget Facebook you could prob get a decent income from Pay-per-view. Onlyfans perhaps 🙂

Great idea! I just don't fancy being a phenomenon of any sort.

Try boosted Instagram Reels, or even TikTok. Best PPC right now.

I feel that a FB Business page can be useful for word of mouth recommendations (become a member of all your local groups, so ppl can link you) but also create proper website. My partner runs a dog training business and is constantly being recommended and linked to via FB*, so it definitely does have it uses.

But "personnally" I don't feel your a professional company I want to deal with, if you can't be arsed to have a proper website too (is that an old fashioned view?).

PS: If you working out a doctors, I think that stand you in good stead for the whole ear cleaning.. I want my ears cleaning but am reluctant to go to some random person off FB (I'm going to end up at our local pharmacist who does it)

* recommendation are because of her abilities, but also because a core of friends/dog owner always mention her (again unprompted), when the subject it raised.

Thanks Zippy, yeah I have a website but its a good point about highlighting the doctors surgery. Eventually I will hopefully be running off returning customers and word of mouth, and that is happening, but a bit slower than before.

Brant are those options just for video?

God I feel like a proper Grandad.

Actually - check if the surgery has a Facebook page - if they do and they keep it busy then thats probably good for cross promotion - if you are reposting their stuff and they are reposting yours then you're both getting a bit of exposure out of it for less work
