been offered what seems like a decent opportunity banner advertising on facebook.. throwing the ball to the stw collective/ massive.. have you ever cliked onto and bought from a facebook banner and would you use such a link to buy local products such as a plumber...
is it right that you can 'buy' facebook ''likes''? i've been offered 1000 likes for 30 quid!
is this legit through Facebook?
or some one offering to make a page for you and charging you £30?
Just make your own page or group for people to join or like and it makes it easier to get info or contact you? Then if you get revenue through the free option put some of that towards paid exposure.
no i already have apage they apparently can buy likes and advertising on your page if i like the look of you..
My company spends a few quid on facebook advertising and it seems to work pretty well. Works better for leisure brands than corporate but can still be effective for both.
1000 likes for £30 is good. We're currently paying around 8p per like doing it in house. The trick is being able to track whether they actually go on to buy from you which is very difficult. But a spin off benefit is that facebook posts help in google rankings.
I say go for it. Make hay whole the sun shines as its only a matter of time before everyone is doing it like on adwords and prices will rocket.
As to whether its right or wrong, facebook is a business so it will inevitably become more commercial.
I never click on adverts, unless I intentionally want to generate revenue for the host. So speaking for me personally, I'd click on STW hosted adverts but Facebook hosted adverts would always get ignored.
Y'know, assuming I ever saw any.
Read the Ad Contrarian blog before you spend any money.
Yes, I would if the banner was relevant. We don't use Facebook but do use google ads as well as banners on a newspaper site. Success is more determined by how good the banner looks and how good the landing page on your site is. Just directing people to your home page doesn't seem to work too well
The clickthrough rate on FB is low, even by traditional online display banner standards. The other thing is, wtf do you do with a bunch of likes? If you have a plan and know what you're doing, then go for it; otherwise, save the cash until you know what 'like' actually means.
adverts on facebook?
So they're tying to make some money to justify the share price. Do you think they need your help or do you really think there will be a good return on the investment you make in advertsing with them,
you can advertise on FB on a cost per click basis (like adwords) - you only pay them if you get a click through... then its up to your web page to convert them.
seems reasonably easy to tailor your product to the markets you want to target - we're about to advertise on FB - with the creiteria of male, 25-40, 'like' mountain biking - this is the demographic that best suits our product.
IIRC FB CPC is a bit cheaper than adwords...
