My parents have received a couple of emails like this:
Hi [their name],
Your Facebook account has been logged in to recently using a confirmation code and the email address [their email] on Thursday, 23 May 2019 at 14:09 (UTC+01).
Operating system: Android
Browser: Android
IP address: [snipped]
Estimated location: [town in USA]
If you did this, you can safely disregard this email.
If you didn't do this, please secure your account.
I don't have much doubt that this a genuine email from Facebook and their (dormant) account really has been hacked (the links are all to facebook.com addresses). But I don't know much about Facebook. THree questions:
1) What does "using a confirmation code" mean?
2) How do they secure their account? They can't now log in. (Possibly the hacker has changed their password)
3) What would be the hackers motive for doing this anyway?
Doesn't look genuine to me. Presumably its trying to get them to log into a fake facebook site so it can get their user name and password.
I'd ignore it and move on.

My FB account got hacked years ago and they used it to spam my (few) fwends with some obviously spam, pointless, crappy email. I'm pretty sure there's not a spotty nerd with chaos on his mind, it's just a bot* they let loose on the site to see what they can crack.
