You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
My account was accessed last week (despite having a 14 character alphanumerical random password that isn't shared anywhere else). I have gone through the process as advised on Facebook and submitted proof of ID which allows me to log-in to create a new password but then I immediately get the message:
Review requested
If we find that your posts or comments haven't followed our Community Standards, your account will remain disabled.
We're always looking out for the security of people on Facebook, so while your posts and comments are reviewed, you can't use Facebook.
I have tried twice now and I just end up at the same page and can't get any further. Could anyone give any advice on how I can get my account back?
Looks like who ever had you account eg Russian FSB, was using it for unauthorised purposes and got it banned. I guess you'll just have to wait or contact FB if that's even possible.
Sorry to hear it.
I'm in exactly the same position, this has also removed my guiding business accounts on Facebook and Instagram which have thousands of followers and basically where I do all my advertising so it is very valuable to me.
I've done exactly the same as you and this was on the 14th Feb, heard nothing from FB and tried any kind of contact I can find online via apparent customer service emails. Any other method suggested by Facebook just takes you to a facebook page and guess what, I'm blocked from Facebook?!
I also apparently broke community standards but I barely use my personal account and just post MTB content on the business accounts so it is either hacked like you suggest or a mistake. I've read in several places that this kind of thing is automatic and mistakes are made so we could have been targeted by some kind of automatic algorythm by mistake, especially given your password comments.
Either way, not fun for several reasons and I'm following here in the hope of some answer for both of us.
Just get it all deleted and get some of your life back!!

I don't use it much but it covers the timeline from when my girls were born so I like to have the memories. I have all the pictures backed up separately but the Facebook 'memories' give me context.
One of the (many) reasons I got rid of FB was around security concerns and the automated nature of being reported/blocked.
An example: our local for sale groups were being spammed with endless dodgy adverts for all sorts - and they were fake with poster being based in developing nation, no friends, poor English via google translate, always asking people interested to fill in the Google Form with passwords, bank accounts etc... I started tagging them as spam as well as reporting to group admin. From which I repeatedly had automated FB warnings about posting against community guidelines - but they would not remove/respond to the spammer who was still active on FB...
They have a bazillion people and a hugely automated system that just doesn't work for the individual - it works for them.
You are best off out of it...

How did you know? Could you see that they've posted anything?
Because
despite having a 14 character alphanumerical random password that isn’t shared anywhere else
Would make me extremely doubtful about it having been accessed by someone else.

They added a new email address and telephone number to the account as well as adding 2FA Access Key security then did something that caused Facebook to suspend the account.
I can't see anything as the account has been suspended (ie, my wife can no longer find me and I have been removed from groups we were both in).
Hope you haven't fallen for a phishing scam and clicked a link in fake email...

Unless they guessed your password, the email account linked to your facebook account is probably compromised too. They would have done a reset password request to it. I would STRONGLY suggest changing that password too.
You do have MFA enabled on your email and your facebook account, right? Right?
Either that or you fell for a phishing email.
I'm quite fortunate in that I don't need to use FB or any other SM for business purposes, and don't use it for photo memories or marketplace etc. I too was becoming increasingly frustrated with the algorithms so binned it. Honestly, I've never regretted it for a single second.
Get rid if you can...

No - I checked my Facebook account first before trying to regain access (it had already been locked out before I took any action).

I have 2FA on my email account but not on the Facebook account.
How do you know they’ve added all these things to your account if you can’t access it? My guess is that they got access to your email account and issued a password reset request, difficult to know how they did that though if you have MFA enabled on your email. Unless you left a device logged on somewhere…..
Same thing happened to me during half term, the previous days I received a few emails about a fb code to reset my pswd, then one day I woke up and saw my inbox flooded with fb emails with this message: “Your post goes against our Community Standards on child sexual exploitation”.
I can’t access my account, I just get in an infinite loop, I also can’t contact fb, but I still get emails about unread notifications.
It’s pretty frustrating.
Everyone says MfA 2FA but there’s a massive problem with it. If you are ever in a situation where it’s an emergency / essential to get access to your data it’s unlikely you will have access to your MFA / 2FA. E.g mugged on holiday for phone / wallet, plane crash, boat crash kind of thing.
FB need to fix this now. Imagine if their service was actually important. Many kind of run their business from it but there is no way to deal with what the OP is mentioning outside of their automated process. Similar happened to me in the past when using account over multiple devices in a way that may have been flagged as a security issue.
How to sort it. Head to their next developer conference and speak to a human…
How do you know they’ve added all these things to your account if you can’t access it?
The reset account process shows what emails / phone numbers are associated with the account and there was a new email and phone number there. They have been ‘disassociated’ with my account but I still can’t get access.
My original Facebook page got hacked. FB did nothing to help. To prove my identity I sent my passport photo over 12 times & the computer said no, you're under 13 years old! Communication with FB is next to impossible. Nobody puts a name on a reply. No phone number is published. We are just advert fodder. Nothing of importance on my old FB page, but it took down the Horsham Riders page, the Motomerlin page & stuffed up the Gas Gas Pampera group. Hope you can get it back, but they really are utterly useless, there is no customer service.

The advantages of having 2FA on far far outweigh the disadvantages. Yes, you highlight a couple of cases where it could be problematic however without it you accounts are much more vulnerable.
Nearly all 2FA solutions now have a secondary way in, a one time code you keep tucked away somewhere, the ability to have it emailed instead of sent by text or if you use an Authenticator app, you just need another phone/device to install it on so you would very rarely be locked out.
To the OP, yes you have hit on a real problem with automated account policing bu the likes of Facebook. I guess their argument, weak though it is, is that everyone would just say their account had been hacked if they were banned for unsavoury content. Of course there are ways they could be much smarter than this but with billions of accounts they just don’t have the proper resources to manage things properly.
