Off on hols for the first time since 2003, and the first time with 2 kids and we're in a little town north of Orvieto called Fabro.
Looks like there are some nice lakes that might have beaches and obviously there is wine and olives for me and mrslister...but I was wondering if anyone had been in that area and had any good recommendations for places to visit etc...
Kids are 3 and 5 years old so doesn't have to be amazing!
THey'll probably be happy chasing lizards in the garden while we drink wine 🙂

Cheers

Val d'orcia, a bit to the west, is a beautiful area. Wine is certainly first rate! I've spent a couple of weekends biking around there, stopping at various agriturismi and wineries. I don't have kids, but if i did and found myself in the neighbourhood, i'd take them around the spectacular medieval towns like pienza and montalcino, making up stories about knights, ladies, sieges, etc. The towns have that storybook look, and really jog the imagination. I don't know the local history, but it could be a good starting point for a yarn!!
