Humourous now...slightly scary at the time tho 😯
Really? I was pissing myself laughing at real time too.
I can't stop watching it, I think it's made by the fact that he falls over again after seeing the car coming round the corner! AMAZING
Was he real? Why's he wearing black?
if there is one place you would not want to fall over it would be in front of an F1 car!
You just imagine the look of terror on his face as he falls over and sees the car coming, and then falls over as soon as he gets up!
The moment is enhanced by the two marshals right at the end both going for the same piece of debris, one grabs it,the other kicks it.
All that needs is a man booting an ostrich, and it'd be the best video ever.
Just before the marshals ran out I was thinking of the Tom Pryce crash and then the idiot in black falls over. I hope he is not allowed near and F1 track ever again. I know it was an accident and he just fell over but the lot of them looked like idiots and it would have been funny had it not been on a racing circuit. That is how people get killed.
If anyone wonders why I am being so harsh look up the uncensored footage of Tom Pryce being killed by a marshal (the marshal also had a horrific end). Very sad.
I thought they'd long ago stopped that crazy risk taking by marshals after a guy in a 1970s Grand Prix ran across the track with a fire extinguisher, was hit by a car, killing himself and the driver.

Tom Pryce
The marshals still left load of debris on the track which was dangerous as it could have caused another crash. I hope the track officials get some serious stick from the F1 drivers and the FIA over their uselessness.
Good race though, had us on the edge of our seats.
You guys have obviously never volunteered as an official at a motorsport event. Usual internet know-it-alls. Do you thing they train for picking up bits of car, or have the genes specific to doing a track width sprint?
Wasnt funny in the slightest, soon as he fell I instinctively looked away, having seen to many people die on racetracks both on tv and 10 foot in front of me I dint want to see someone die on live tv ever again
What they whereplaying at is beyond me absolute chaos although very difficult circumstances on a fast bend
I love that ostrich vid hahaha

Well if they don't, maybe they should - I mean just how rare a thing is it for them to have to do? And if they don't, maybe they shouldn't be attempting it in front of racing cars at speed.
Was thinking the same thing, then thought maybe I had read the post incorrectly. Surly track clearing is one of the primary tasks they are trained for?

Do you have to volunteer to do something to have an opinion on it? Jeez, I've never managed a football club, but me and 20,000 other folk seem capable of forming an opinion every week. Some maybe right, some wrong.
It doesn't look like those marshalls were trained in anything - it was totally comedic. No-one got hurt, ergo it was funny. What wouldn't have been funny though, would have been a poorly trained fool, actually causing death or serious injury to someone else.
I thought it was funny.
Not as good as watching Trigger with his broom trying to brush the water away though.
Proper lol at the ostrich 😆
Theres is deffo something about the Canadian Marshalls.. they must be all pissed.
Watch this vid of Vettel stuffing into the wall on Friday... then watch the Marshall at about 18 secs in!!!

I didn't find it funny either and I bet the bloke was seriously scared for his life.
that ostrich video is the best video on the net. it has everything, and the first time you watch it you just don't know where its going to go next.
They were under yellow flag and safety car, the two cars that came round after the fall were going much faster so you could say they were at fault also.. did look like a shambles though, surely they must do some training in todays H&S culture.
Maybe the marshals were all out on the lash the night before, judging by their inability to stay vertical!
Rihanna shouting "Man down! Man down!" as that other cameraman accidentally on purpose fell over in front of her. Loved DC's comment about it being a cheap shot at sneaking a peak. Dutty cameraman!
Was he real? Why's he wearing black?
I think he was a ninja.
i like this vid myself

I think that maybe why Newey and Horner were smirking then 🙂
I loved Brundles comment about Rhiannon having a bad hair day!
Best comedy moment was on the grid walk, those green trousers - she had clearly only asked a compulsive liar if her butt looked big in them!!
i desperately wanted the red shouldered crow to go over and deck those seagulls on camera!
bad hair day comment made me laugh, as did the weird machine with the rotating brush on the front they were driving around the track.. when it drove half into the grass and bumped off swerving all over the track outta control 😀

I've got to say that is something I would have happily remained ignorant of. Truly horrific...and that's the censored version 🙁

And I'm not likely to if the accepted practice is leaping around inbetween 100+MPH racing cars, picking up or kicking about bits of plastic.

I think they call it chicken duty.
I wonder whether the decision process went like;
"I know we've got to get it off the track"
"No, we can't stop the cars, have you any idea how much money is involved?"
"Just get Nigel 'The Ninja' to run on in between the cars"
"Yes, I know he's a clumsy oaf, but I'm not stopping the cars!"
That ostrich clip is like something out of Jam! 🙂
Coulthard to Schumacher
I learnt my german from old videos.
cue Schumacher pissing him self in a golf buggy.
That ostrich video is brilliant. Random donkey!

The only way they identified the Marshall was because he didn't check in at the end of the race 🙁 truly horrific.
On another note watched Senna at the weekend. Never seen the Ratzenburger crash before. That was bad too. 🙁

I've been going to race tracks and horse events since I was a kid. Marshalling is a VERY serious thing.
And yes they should be instructed on clearing the track and how to do so safely and quickly and given the tools to do so. It is one of their primary tasks.
They may be volunteers and very brave people but they still need to be selected, trained and equipped properly for their own safety and that of the drivers and spectators. Hopefully there will be some backlash to emphasise to the track owners/FIA that they may need to look into their there marshalling and maybe allocate a tiny amount of all those millions to a very important part of motorsport.
Oh and +1 to the mess in the green trousers! 😆
urgh that was a horrible sight!
OMG. How inept do you have to be to become a Canadaian GP steward. Some really retarded, ill-considered judgements that whole weekend. Looks like the organisers just stood outside a supporters club the night before randomly asking for volunteers.
FFS even Wimbledon ball boys are trained to pick up a stray tennis ball 'properly'.
Is it just me or do they seem to be getting silly with all this "under investigation" rubbish.
They need to send the officials to a BTCC race - they would have a heart attack 😀
hahaha... that vettel one was also pretty good.
if there is one place you would not want to fall over it would be in front of an F1 car!
I cant think of a car I'd rather fall over in front of. Stupidly good brakes, changes direction quicker than any other car in the world. Driven by someone with insanely quick reactions....
Now a nissan micra driven by a 73 year old granny....
to be honest the best comedy moment of the GP was the fact I was recording it, and while the box is clever enough to keep going if a programme over-runs, its not clever enough to change channels, so I saw 2 hours of no racing, then just as it got going my recording stopped. And it was the best race yet by all accounts...:-(
Now a nissan micra driven by a 73 year old granny....
...isn't likely to be doing the best part of 200mph
if there is one place you would not want to fall over it would be in front of an F1 car!
I was going to say the same as thekingisdead. How quickly can an F1 car stop from 200mph? And in any case it woudln't be doing 200mph coming around a sharp bend of course.
You're right molgrips. What would it be doing? It would still be going a LOT faster than Granny in her Micra. I know which one I'd rather be in front of.
Whilst this is all hypothetical nonsense and a bit of fun, if you watch the video again you'll notice that for a while the driver isn't sure which way to go and neither is the marshall for that matter. Fast reactions are great, but both parties need to have decided on a mutually advantageous evasive manoeuvre for a happy outcome. It's like trying to avoid someone coming towards you in the street. I've lost count of how many times I've done that silly dance 😆
