So- they've all had a chance to select their lifetime drivers numbers.

Loving this quote:

The famously unemotional Raikkonen said he picked seven because "it's the number I already had last year and I saw no reason to change it".

And nobody chose 69 🙄

Mansell held onto 5 even when he was world champ.

Raikkonen is awesome, some of the best quotes come from him.

I baggsied 69 for when I become an f1 driver so that is why nobody took it 😉

27 and 28 should be reserved for Ferraris and they should be back where they belong - 3rd row of the grid, a few podiums and the odd win.
I used to like them back then

Red one don't forget as that's why he wanted to keep it.

I tend to go for No.6, that way i can randomly shout "i am not a number, i am a free man" which amuses me 🙂

Mansell came back to F1 for a few odd races for Williams and (I think) McLaren a year or two after Indycar, and used red 5 IIRC

Edit: but yeah he was off in the US when he was the reigning champ

Edit 2: after a quick Google...he used red 5 in Indy car and red 2 in his guest appearances for Williams after, but not either with McLaren

I really want you to be riding a penny farthing when you say that. With an awning.

I find the numbers hard to spot on modern f1 cars. They used to be bold as brass on the nose and sides.

Speaking of Mansell, I briefly saw him at Le Mans a few years back and his car was sporting Red 5 there too. I say briefly, as he was only in the race for 20 minutes before he became one with the crash barriers.

I always liked the reason Nicky Hayden rides with 69. It reads the same even if the bike is upside down
