Aaaagh - I was hoping he'd do a Rosberg! 🙂

Seems we're stuck with the dodgem car driver for a few years yet...

I guess we will have to wait and see how this season starts to shake out. Still too many unknowns at the moment about who has aced their design and who has dropped a bollock. If there are two or three manufacturers who have aced the design then, combined with the driver line-up, then we may see some more robust defence against Verstappen's driving. I would love to see that - although I'm not sure he is the sort of person who will recognise it as being down to him and won't change. Which is likely to be good fun as it may mean he ends up throwing away potential championships. If he had driven a bit more sagely last season it wouldn't have even come down to a final race shoot out - he'd have had the championship sown up several races earlier.

I'm hoping that different cars suit different circuits so that there's a lot of mixed up grids through the year. I'd love to see Max battling in the pack with Alonso, Norris, Leclerc, etc.

From what I've read and seen the general consensus seems to be (after just one test obviously) is that Maclaren have managed to create the best solution for keeping the airflow under the car from stalling and managed to crate the best side vortices to trap the air flow under the car. That's not to say that didn't have issues with "porpoising" like everyone lese, but it was noticeable that they weren't anything like as badly affected by it as other teams were.

it could be that we see Verstappen, Alonso, and Leclerc fighting it out as Norris and Ricardo bugger off into the distance...Not long now to see!

Reading between the lines I think it's pretty much dropped until Russia drops Putin, isn't it?

Merc and Red Bull will have updates before the first race. I'm a McLaren fan and their car looks good, but the first test was just to understand the basics of the cars, the teams haven't started on performance work yet.

I think he's still a top driver, it's just difficult to believe that Renault are going to give him a frontrunning car.

Not sure I’d quite put him in the top group, but yeah mainly don’t see the car being capable

Can wholly understand why Mazepin would've been given the boot, but Fittipaldi?

That's going to be too painful too watch tbh. Maybe a few years down the line, after there's been some seasons to dilute the bit of a messery

Mazepin reportedly set to leave Haas

Possible replacements Fittipaldi or Antonio Giovinazzi....

And with Uralkali out - could it be a return for Rich Energy??

Thing is those reports were all based on someone on Twitter saying it earlier in the day (who provided no other source). Indeed the first comment on that post was "Source: Trust me bro"

Not say it's not happening, just would like to see some better confirmation first.

Just seen this on the BBC

The UK motorsport authority has banned Russian and Belarusian drivers from taking part in events in Britain and Northern Ireland.

However, BBC Sport has been told this would not necessarily prevent Mazepin from competing in the British Grand Prix as the F1 driver super-licence contains a clause requiring national authorities to permit the driver to take part in F1 events.

Bollocks.

I'd guess the only reason Haas haven't announced Mazapin's sacking already is due to legal issues. I bet dear-daddy is employing the UKs finest Russian loving layers to keep him in that seat.

Doubt it, they took him on in the first place despite him being known as a sex pest.
Probably worried uralkali won't deliver their bag of cash.

It's not publicly released until next Friday but reviewers have seen it.

EPISODE 4: A MOUNTAIN TO CLIMB
The Haas team looks to reverse its recent fortunes with a new sponsor and two new rookie drivers: Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher.

Struggling to survive as an F1 team, they take on a new Russian sponsor and his son, who’s driving one of their cars. Nikita has a difficult start to the season with numerous incidents and, at times, feels everyone in the team is out to get him.

After spending some time at home with Mazepin in Moscow, the episode’s focus shifts onto his home race: the Russian Grand Prix.

That's Mazepin gone then. 21st out of 20 full time drivers in 2021 and having spun 22 times during the season and a reputation for boorish on and off track behaviour hasn't earned him many admirers.

I'm sure I saw reports saying that Merc and Redbull had come to a truce and agreed to move on from 2021?

Looks like Karen didn't get the memo.

My favourite bit is where he says he doesn’t think the regulations were applied incorrectly, just different to how they’d been applied before. So that would be different to correctly.

McLaren could be doing something similar? 🤔

The sidepods in their 2022 car are already pretty flat and small. May be running wider vanity panels to disguise true size?

Nikita, how about asking your dad to fund a foundation for ordinary, peaceful people who have been blocked from living their ordinary, peaceful lives for political reasons? They're a lot more deserving of anyone's support than the spoilt brat son of a billionaire.

Like the side impact structures sticking out of the car!?

And the fact they have to pass FIA crash tests!?

It's bloody great though isn't it! I was really worried F1 2022 would be Indycar style spec series. 🙂

No Karen, the rules are being applied correctly but just in a way that's different to how they've been applied before. Surely that's all perfectly OK?

Yeah just heard him saying it’s not safei

Everyone ones that having a faster car in among slower traffic is potentially unsafe. haven't y seen the road safety adverts

Also, he doesn't specify what it makes unsafe - perhaps the Red Bull chances of victory?

Just because he is a whinging sack of piss doesn't mean you should be nasty about the drivelling Karen. That little tosspot is a valued member of the F1 team.

Just thought someone on here ought to stand up for him 🙂

I imagine they are data collecting still on the new shape.

A bit of that, but it's still bouncing and they'd taped up the gills/louvres/whatevers on the side pods for some laps and that came off...So far Mercedes are having a bit of a trial. Plus like a lot of teams (except AR I think) the Merc is overweight currently (and one of the heaviest I think) Some teams have got some serious weight to shed. It could be that the new design is predominantly because of that

Red Bull isn't happy with some comments attributed to its team boss Christian Horner by Auto Motor und Sport about the Mercedes potentially breaching the regulations.

A spokesperson from the team said: “Christian Horner has not given any interviews regarding Mercedes’ car. Any quotes being attributed to him this morning are incorrect.”

So did he say it? I'm at work so not watching.
