Will need to sort the exterior of our house in the next couple of years. It is a 30s pebbledash mock Tudor style which is in need of lots of tlc. Bottom half is red brick which is fine. I’m looking into whether it is worth using external insulation on the top half and then rendering, ideally a product / solution that still can look like the original mock Tudor so it fits in with the rest of the street. I am not a fan of a fully rendered house so that’s not really a goer and we like the 30s traditional look (well not the pebbledash bit)
Would it be worth just doing the top half with insulation? Anyone done it? One thread on mums net is all I can find, w
I think if you do more than 25% you need to bring the whole wall up to current regs. What's the wall construction - solid brick or cavity wall?
You can get insulating render e.g. Thermopor which you could use to replace the pebble dash
This sort of question can’t be answered properly without a proper assessment of the property by someone that knows what they are doing. There is huge potential for stuffing up retrofit works causing further problems with damp, thermal bridging etc.
