I’ve a 8 (?) year old MaxXD that’s starting to struggle- not switching off, crappy battery life etc..

Seems a shame to bin it, so is it possible to get them refurbed anywhere?

MTB Batteries can replace the battery. Not sure about the switch though.

Yes, send it back them. They replaced the switch and electronics on my old Maxx-D for 20 quid.

Are you trying to avoid sending it to exposure for some reason?

Too slow. But yes exposure can fix things and normally pretty cheap.

They sorted out my dynamo lamp after I connected it wrongly and damaged the controller inside

I was thinking my exposure was draining it's battery and the lumen was getting lower.

Sent it back and they did a full work up on it.

Came back as good as new and I only paid for postage.

Best customer service I've experienced.

Yep, they sorted out my little TraceR. Came back with new body, control board and switch. Good as new and cracking people to deal with.

ah ok, I just assumed it was general knowledge as they are well known for having excellent customer service.  I've sent a couple of things back to them directly that I purchased elsewhere (evans) and they were great.

Yep, as above they've got superb customer service. There's a returns portal on their website, you generate a returns number, post it back to them and they'll fix / refurb stuff and send it back out.

This thread is really validating my decision to buy a mk12 joystick from Evans (end of line discount plus BC discount == bargain!) for a new helmet light, replacing of my old/heavy battery/light double act from Chinese ebay.  Just need to save up for a bar light now... MaxxD or Diablo?

I can't praise the customer service highly enough! The screen on my Race failed, I phoned them, got a returns number, and posted it to them, 4 days later it was back in my hands, and repaired FOC!

its not even just the newest stuff

they look after legacy kit too.

my Maxx d is a mk4 my joysticks are a 5 and 7 and they have had no qualms in fixing them up.

Im struggling to look beyond them for a replacement for the Maxx D going forward.

If you want any more validation...

I left my joystick in my bag after a ride and decided to give the bag a good wash in the machine.

I pulled the light out of the machine (it had fallen out of my bag) after a 1 hour 20 minute wash at 40C with a 1200rpm spin and the light worked fine and has ever since.

At that point I decided to never buy another brand of lights.

ross, if you can stretch to it, get the max d. i run a 4 or 5 year old set of 6pack and diabolo - well balanced setup IMO. current maxx d and joystick would be a good combo i reckon. enough light from the bars to see at speed but not so much that the light from the lid is too big a contrast (drop) when you look around tight corners.
