Can anyone recommend a good one? My physio has suggested I get one to help my recovery from a recent crash, but I don't want one of those crappy flimsy ones from Argos.

Can anyone point me in the direction of something a bit more gym quality?

I'm a 6ft+ 85 kilos if that makes a difference... Ta!

I should have expected these replies! 😀 Yes, I meant stability balls like in Wrecker's link...

these are about as good as you'll get and are basically what you'll find in any (decent) gym.

Thanks Superlightweight - that looks a bit better than some I've seen...

Hmm, I'd have to disagree with that, they don't stock quality stuff, just cheap stuff. Some of their OL bars are truly dreadful and their after sales service is piss poor.

My Decathlon one has survived the kids bouncing up and down on it regularly, and we use it most days as a seat while watching TV... Not gym quality, but not that flimsy either.

I've had a reebok one from argos for 10ish years and it's better quality than the ones the NHS have.

Argos ones are fine. Your going to get fed up with it taking up room in the house long before it wears out.

All I know is that the stuff I've used in commercial environments has been nice to use. I did see an OL bar fail but they replaced it NQA.
What bars do you use footflaps? Trying not to spend £stupid on a texas or the like.

Savage Strength have got a good selection. I'd probably go for their "weightlifting bar with bearings" if I were shopping for one tomorrow.

More expensive bars are lovely, but can be silly money. Cheaper bars aren't actually that much cheaper (unless you settle for something totally made of cheese).

As for swiss balls, I'm not sure! As much as I understand the wobbly about on these things for stability, I always think that such much more stability giving muscle can be packed on with the combination of solid ground and a heavy barbell.

Typical STW answer, and I know zero about the details of your situation, so apologies for probably being wrong.

As Superlightweight suggested The Physio Room. I bought this one from there:

I've got the 75cm one, I was 132kg when I started using it after my back op. It was perfectly fine for my use. (Not 132kg now thanks, in part, to the ball) 😉

I picked one up from a local charidee shop, use it everyday at work as the seat behind my desk, it's really helped my posture and core strength.

Not only to exercise, but also to air them is important:
