OK, my first mistake was thinking that as the laces on my beloved 10 year old Timberland boots had finally given up the ghost, I would treat them to some new "genuine" Timberland laces, and I ordered a pair of laces from Timberland.co.uk

Today, I returned home to be greeted by

a) an accusatory MrsSwadey wanting to know what piece of lightweight carbon bling I had ordered as she was holding

b) a very light weight cardboard box - 10" x 12" x 2". Containing a despatch note and a pair of boot laces.

WTF? Could they not have just sent the tea boy down to the Post Office to buy a Jiffy bag?

Why couldn't you pick up any old laces in a shop?

Probably for the same reason I wasted a lot of money on a Santa Cruz Blur that I wasn't good enough to get the best out of......and a Soul....and a Roubaix.....

They must be taking notes from wiggle...are they still posting out items like handlebars in huge cardboard boxes?

I once got a pair of motorbike indicator bulbs delivered in a 30cmx30cmx30cm box, completely filled with white foam chips. The best bit was one of the bulbs was broken.

There is a great thread on the Register about xs packing. A mouse delivered on a pallet being one slightly bizarre one !

seeing as though Mrs Swadey thinks you bought some carbon bling and you've taken her wrath for it, you may as well buy something now
